Crankshaft Pulley

:hammerdrill: This morning new water pump in place on the xjs engine from my S3. I though to be on the way to finish the front of the engine, place the belts, the alternator the radiator and then plan to work on the next step : the wiring looms. I m now stuck because of the crankshaft pulley. The 3d...

Yes you're right, 3mm will be too rigid.
Thank you Philip.

Re: 130A alternator upgrade

At the risk of pointing out the obvious, installing a 130 amp alternator seems unwise. Let's look at the possible demands. Headlights on full beam. 10 amps. Side/rear/no plate/instrument lights....say 5 amps. The brake lights are on..4amps. Indicators on... another 4 amps. The heater blower is on.....

Re: 130A alternator upgrade

For my part , As I do not have Butec, I'll use the same alternator than yours Philip. I finally found a pulley. It has had to be reworked as it was too thick to match with the output shaft.

Re: V12 ECU

Have you finally decided where you are going to place the ECU and how you will do with the long xjs loom ?
As E Type UK, under the seat sounds to be a good place.

Re: Which connector is this?

Hi Michel My car is parked at my local Jag dealer but I will try to pop around to get pics for you. I use the original fans. There is IMO no need for high power VW fans or the high speed they offer .... IF .... the cooling system as a whole is good and correct. Consider that my car has aircon and i...

AutoSparks sell them at an extortionate price.

But finally the holes from the rivets are alredy at the right place. I'll have a look to the thermostat as you discribe. Th...

Re: Which connector is this?

Thank you to post an answer. I started from so far on my restoration that I’ll not have a 100% original car anyway. I’ve an XJS engine (I'm still questionning myself :scratchheadyellow: about the ECU to be used. We already have exchanged about that)and a Getrag gearbox. So I’m already very far from ...

Door seal

Hi, I've placed back the first door on the body after painting. Happy with the gap at the front :bouncyyellow: : https://i.postimg.cc/pTDP6W4w/20190622-153221.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/d0YH9JRk/20190622-153228.jpg But on the seal side, I'm wondering if it is normal to get the door so open and very ha...

Not easy to do on the car but possible if you lift a bit the engine.
I ve fixed mine on the engine in place in the engine bay that way.

Re: ECU on EFI cars

Philip, I ve got information on the differences between low an high z on the injectors. I ve also found literature on the P&H management to be used to drive low z. If i need to add P&H bords or change the 12 injectors....Damn I should have choose a Citroen 2cv to not have this kind of issues or a mo...

Re: ECU on EFI cars

Happy to see that the topic drains so many reaction and information. As James said, the K6 is already purchased. Even so I still have 3 ways to go ahead: 1)I’ve got the K6. I’ve been in touch with Leoni, and yes, I should get data from her with a map and help. I add about this ECU that 2 of the last...

Re: ECU on EFI cars

I suggest you get the car running with original ECU. DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE the complexity of tuning an engine. If you have not done so before, don't even try. Take it to someone who knows how to do it. Philip, I do not underestiate the job at all. I've read lot of data with the Megasquirt experience...

It will replace the 2 ECUs from the donnor XJS I ve got with the v12. Because I get it from a guy on Ebay, It comes with a Lotus map.... A few work ...

Re: ECU on EFI cars

Thank you both for your return. I will continue to think to what sounds to be the best solution for me. I've seen on the last S3 V12 restaured by E Type UK that the ECU they use is placed under the sit. A third way to be concidered. For the fuel, I've planed to use the same kind of solution Philip d...
