Re: Oil leak automatic gearbox

Hi Guys Thank very much for responding Kashma77 - I don't think it is the kick down switch is leaking. I have felt all around and above the sump pan and can see no signs of any fluid running down, however in light of what Mark said I will investigate that again. The box was recently rebuilt so I wou...

My car is a June 1973 Build UK spec S3 V12 Auto 2+2 (Engine 7S11196SA/Chassis IS51856BW) pretty much unmolested at the time when I ...

Re: Best place for data plate stamping UK

I used minimail.co.uk to stamp my S3 plate.
I supplied the plate and they charged me £35.00 including return postage back in 2015 and was happy with the result.
Hope this helps

Hi Pete This may help - heres a couple of photos from my late (June build) 1973 V12 2+2. Both the photos refer to "Amplifier" so I have attached the two photos plus the parts manual page for the later vehicles. The parts manual shows the wiring requirements and you may be able to work out where the w...

Re: Series 3 E-type Originality Question

Hi Ellecari I have a picture of my 73 2+2 which is being restored and repainted. The photo was taken back in 2015. As you can see on the passenger side the chassis number (Circled) has been blanked and the rest painted. I have owned the car since it was 3 years old and there has been no damage/paint...

Re: S3 wiring loom main bulkhead grommet

Hi Drewpy

The part number is C30670.

SNG Show its for the V12E £73.82 Inc Vat Special Order
David Manners show it for the XJ12 £60.00 Inc Vat special order
(As to the quality or availability that remains to be seen)

You could try Hutsons/M&C Wilkinson as they may know where to get it

Good Luck

Re: Rad air control flaps

Hi Peter
I bought a set from SNG Barratt part number C33960/3 £11.76 in stock inc VAT

I bought mine in 2011 and they were pretty good quality so probably not worth trying to make them for that sort of money

Cheers

Re: Series 3 power steering noise (video inside)

Hi ljbp To be honest I couldn't pickup the noise from the video so not sure what it is. I used to get the squealing noise from the power steering when on full lock standing still. Eventually found out it was the belt slipping. You can easily eliminate this by wetting the belt and trying it again, at...

Re: Trim colour change S3 V12 2+2

Hi Guys Many Thanks for your replies. It seems all the later 2+2 had grey headlining and black vinyl sun visors. This is what I had in my olive green interior. As I will be changing the interior colour to biscuit I originally thought it a little odd to have black vinyl sun visors with a biscuit inte...

Re: Help for the wiring loom

Hi Michel Presuming you have the bulkhead harness C34999 this will serve the washer motor and the secondary brake fluid bottle. Note: There is apparently only 1 bulkhead harness which serves both RHD/LHD. It comes out by the washer motor as per the attached picture shown at the back of the dash. Thi...

Trim colour change S3 V12 2+2

Hi Guys My painful restoration of my June 1973 Series 3 V12 2+2 is nearing completion. The car which I have owned since !977 is Green Sand with olive interior. Thanks Bill
Looks like I don't have that. It doesn't look familiar but it would have been nice to have the full compliment of the original documents, never mind though.
Thanks again for your response

Hi Toby I found the Coventry Auto components S3 wiring diagram much easier to follow than the workshop manual They are available on eBay for £10.50. I have dropped in the link below https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Classic-Jaguar-Wiring-Diagram-Booklets-Best-Selling/382421660436?hash=item590a1b7314:m:mRnl...
