Re: 123 Tune.....I am not so sure anymore 1962 3.8
No intention to bore you further with this, but for sake of better illustration: this fuel bacteria enjoys ideal growth conditions in the interfacial surface between water and gasoline. Modern gasoline with ethanol has a tendency to condense water from ambiant air and absorb it. When resting, it wil...

Re: 123 Tune.....I am not so sure anymore 1962 3.8
Andrew, more seriously now, the rotten smell you have noted is due to bacterial growth. Some bacteria can develop in fuel during storage. This is a major concern in military and civil aviation where they have large safety storage, tackled by using specific bactericide additives. If your tank is cont...

Andrew, the good news is that you still have your smelling senses
, it is a good test to perform every morning nowadays.

Certainly a concern for those who are in the trade or who bought their car(s) as an investment or short time owning, less of a concern for the rest.

Re: Furred up waterways/overheating
Tim are you relying on the gauge readings or you have checked the effective temperature with a heat gun? Température gauge could really be reading higher than reality.

Re: New battery recommendation
Sorry if this may shock the purists around, I run with a Varta D15 :swerve: this is the second one of my S2 which I replaced end 2018. The first one lasted 16 years and never missed a beat :rvrence: I have a C*ek battery conditioner plugged in when the car will not be used for some time, which will ...

Check the ground strap body-engine is making good contact, this might be the origin of your issue.

Re: Talking about temptations
James, I have been driving Porsche since 35 years, but I believe that a 911 still looks like a 911. While I do consider it to be a great car, I don't find it fine looking. Porsche seems to remain trapped with this rear engined model shape, only to satisfy their customer base refusing any considerati...

Re: HD8 carb issue
Good progress Pierre. The Lucas electronic pump is a better choice than the Facet (which you can keep as a spare in the trunk), however you should check the pressure it delivers. Many posts relate excessive pressure tales resulting in needle valves failing to close properly and consequent flooding a...

Re: HD8 carb issue
Well, please do excuse my ignorance, but I thought maybe wrongly, that with: 1/fuel supply disconnected 2/float bowls full 3/carbs pistons in but with no needles or thin needles 4/choke lever pulled if you would then try to start the engine you would get enough depression in the carb throats to suck...

Re: HD8 carb issue
Gents, the OP is stating: "I disconnect the fuel supply , rechecked once again float which are new and floating + the float level, everything is ok. So I worked just with the remaining fuel inside the float chamber , I opened the starter to mid position saw the jet going down inside the jet bearing ...

Re: HD8 carb issue
Pierre,
With the fuel supply disconnected (and choke at mid-position) such flooding is excessive.
Looks like the needle in the piston is fitted too deep. Worth checking.

Re: Gear box oil
Malcolm: As detailed in other threads on this Forum, just be advised that Redline MT90 will likely increase the size and number of leaks from your gearbox (due to its thinner viscosity). I’m perfectly willing to put up with a few little puddles of gearbox oil on my garage floor in exchange for much...

Re: Window height adjustment
:welcomewave: David. With the door card removed, lower the window glass. In the sliding channel, just beneath the glass, you will see a metal square stop screwed in the channel. If it is missing, the window will rise too high. Sorry I dont have a picture available, may some other fellow lister jump ...

Re: Cover for car
Personally I have never heard of or seen before a "breathable" automotive topcoat.
A car topcoat is supposed to be a sealed barrier.
Blisters happen due to entrapped moisture or gases in the underlayers, which are precisely held by the topcoat barrier.
