Re: Anyone started to use their e-types yet?
Try being here in Bristol, they're an absolute nightmare Cutting in front of pedestrians, going for gaps in crowds that really don't exist, generally being rude or riding at you on the pavement. As Martin Brundle would say, "he's driving into a disappearing wedge" and it only ends badly. You regular...

Re: I must be getting old!
Hi Steve, he will not like it one bit, especially as an ex-traffic Bobby with a class 1 advanced license - he does remind my sister and I that we “don’t know how to drive” from time to time, and that one day he will “teach us how to drive properly” !

I must be getting old!
Car insurance renewal time for the Colt, and I was surprised at my premium. Always had my parents on the policy as they do drive the car from time to time, and it lowers the price a little. Took my Dad off this time as according to my insurer “it’s more of a risk wth him on now, because you’re getti...

Nice to see everyone's cars out again, Richard got the FHC out the other day - I'd been at home for a few days and sod's law it was the day I was leaving for Bristol!

Re: Hello all, young Etype owner joining the club :)
Welcome, Thim! Amazing job, and great to have another young E-Type enthusiast on board (there's Steve Foden, who restored a lovely 4.2 OTS with his Dad a while back) and me knocking around here from time-to-time. I'm almost 24 and certainly nowhere near acquiring an E-Type. I would love to get bette...

Re: Personalised number plates
It’s an interesting school of thought. With classic cars, I do prefer to see them on their original or age-related number plates, partly because that’s what they should be on and it completes the look of the car. “ Modern” cars tend to lend themselves better to being personalised... or am I just use...

Re: Personalised number plates
I'm clearly far too compliant, Steve! My Dad was a police officer - I probably don't have excuses. Consistency makes for a nice display too. (Note to self: get a new picture with the Colt on!)

Re: Personalised number plates
My personalised plate is spaced correctly, and with 5 digits rather than 6 (prefix style plate) on a plain background (aside from the supplier’s details and BS mark) I think it looks just fine. Feel free to disagree  But then I guess it depends on what you’re trying to say with your plate! Con...

Re: Open Day April 2019
Had a chat with Richard about coming down in the 3.8 FHC, but he's away sailing across Easter  You'll have to put up with me though  I'd love to come down. Edit: Had a word with one of my best mates who said he would love to come along. He tends to do all the route planning with me for the...

Re: Thought and Contemplation
There's certainly been some fascinating discussion on this topic already, and I've been trying to find the time to respond myself! I would say it can be a combination of factors that gets young people interested in classic cars in general - a hands-on approach, their relatively simplicity in compari...

Re: Crimbo pressie idea?
From a quick glance, it looks reasonably well done. Is it me or do the wire wheels look a little thin, and the wipers a little strange? Nice paint job though. It's difficult enough to paint one of those things in a small scale, let alone the real thing! Thankfully my models were painted by Richard -...

Welcome back, Erik. Nice to see that you still have your car. Get out and enjoy it when the time permits

David - thank you for all your efforts over the past few weeks. It sounds like a right headache. Glad to be up and running again - back to the daily dose of ETF. I know I'm being a little quiet, but I am listening/not speaking much (a PhD doesn't give you much time!) - anyone who knows me will reali...

Re: Evans Waterless Coolant
Richard has been using this in his 3.8 FHC which had a full rebuild, new radiator etc. Although he doesn't spend much time on here, I know he is happy with it and hasn't yet run into any problems. The car runs well and has never hinted at overheating.

I remember reading about this car a while ago too, Andrew. All that was left was the engine which went in the MK2 and there used to be a picture of one of the spinners he kept from the car! (Presumably the logbook was retained too)
I would be very suspicious of this car.

Getting "overexposed" on Bleaklow
Somewhere I have been meaning to visit for quite a while, and finally found the time to do so last Monday Just off the beaten track of the Pennine Way up near the Snake Pass on the aptly named Bleaklow Moor, some 10 m from the top of the moorlands near the Higher Shelf Stones, lies the corroding, cr...

Re: Donald Campbell E-Type
I'm still unsure. Some things are best left alone - at least by recovering Campbell they were able to lay him to rest properly. Someone will have found him / K7 eventually and the world would know then. Not good news for anyone but trophy hunters. They ruin the peace and memories for everyone else. ...

Re: I got to wear a funny hat
Great point, Malcolm - I intend on doing that somehow! My family have always tried to reign me in with the workload, particularly during the so-called "breaks", usually Easter / Christmas when there's a lot to do. Their input is always valued and there's always a case to be made for time away from w...
