Re: Low Drag Coupe

I have seen examples of both Rod Jay (Lumsden/Sargent replica) shell and many by RS Panels, whi I know well. Rs Panels every time for me, and they build any of the three. But you will wait several years for one since they have such a backlog of orders. I saw a wonderful 250GTO body there recently an...

Re: Fosseway 'Marston' radiator

The Fosseway, when I wanted one, was on three month backlog and £1,500 delivered. I found this from Welsh in the USA for $800 and had it two days later by FedEx https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4137/35341074680_a195281ae5_k.jpg Alloy Rad 1 by Tony Brown , on Flickr This was a few years back and the ra...

Re: Speedo under-reads

20 years ago the angle drive on my car broke and I had no idea that there were two types. With a wrong reading we researched and realised we needed a 1:1.25, not a 1:1. Problem solved.

Re: Filler Cap worries, Overheating ?

Just caught up with this thread. In 2012 the club toured Europe, and on the way back we did quite a few passes in the Alps before stopping for the night. My temperature gauge showed no overheating at all, so we did more of the same the next day and I checked the coolant level that evening after dinn...

Classic Fabs for me. I helped a friend fit his system and it was beautifully made and millimetre perfect.

Re: 3.8 in-tank fuel pump.

Just updating this thread following a problem which, to be fair, was of my own making. I was going to the launch of an event for Le Mans which is featuring Jaguar this year, so got the car out and left it ticking over to warm through a bit. I went inside to collect my things and five minutes later c...

A bit late on the scene, but mine came from BAS. Apart from the hood, I am well satisfied.

Re: Newbie..... need help and advise please

My picture frame has been replaced twice in my ownership and both times restamped with the same chassis number.I can't see why it would be improper to do so since it is really a running repair to keep the car on the road if it is needed. Mine were last changed in 2014 purely because the car had led ...

Re: Stolen!!! E type series 1

Sadly, the car stolen in Dover has not been recovered. Wish it wre so, but no, the car has never been seen again and is probably adorning some russian mafia garage as we speak. As regards the JDC register, it still exists but the new edition, due out in 2016, has not appeared due to the long illness...

Re: Low Drag Coupe

Wilde has more than admirablyly covered the subject, on which I wrote an article last year for several magazines. Here is a photo of two low drag replicas, one Lynx and one by Simon Dunford:- http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u216/lynxd67/Lynx%20miscellaneous/Lynx%209left%20and%20Dunford%20low%20dr...

Re: Reversing light

Thanks people, but the question remains. I have it in my head that the early cars had different pattern glass, not the concentric circles. If so -and of course I no longer have proof - I need to look further than a standard replacement.

Reversing light

Sadly, I was rear-ended last week on my way back from a funeral. Damage is quite severe, and I really need information on the original 1961 reversing lamp, that which is no more as far as my car is concerned. It isn't something you really think about too much but for some reason I was thinking that ...

Off topic really, but I seem to be very lucky with batteries. I have only changed one this century, and that on the XKSS which is a dry cell gel one which was on the car when I bought it 16 years ago. The E-type on I bought 17 years ago and is still going strong. On the modern car side, I bought a M...

It is of course well known that the spring expands and swallows the ball bearing and also that the Bakelite impeller breaks up. I've fitted the new solid state one but for some reason, and I can't work out why, fuel consumption has increased by 10%.

Not worth arguing about given Jaguar's record keeping in the day, but Porter differs slightly.

RHD 358 roadsters and 176 FHC

LHD 1582 roadsters and 504 FHC

This subject has gone round in circles for years and years. Back in the boom of 1990 it was the V12 that was the most sought after, over ?100,000, and only a few years back Classic and Sports Car were proclaiming the S1 4.2 as far and away the best investment due to the Jaguar box. In the late 1990s...

Cactusman, I think you'll find that the 500 cars you refer to were those with outside bonnet locks of which 91 were RHD roadsters and 4 FHC RHD, the rest LHD. Flat floor cars went a lot further, but I can't be bothered to get Porter's book out and add it up!

If we are going through this subject once again, what's wrong with the Welsh radiator? Works fine on mine, and half the price. Sarthe you might be right, however, how about the missing information? Shipping cost? Painting in black? Duty? Supporting UK companies? Richard Suggest you have a look here...
