Re: Another new Etype
There is no mention Andrew of 850067 being written off ,so it could be an honest situation. Although damaged by hitting a truck it may be the owner had 3rd party insurance ? hence the retention of the car. Whether the car is deemed repairable is another discussion . A current picture of the car woul...

Re: Donald Campbell E-Type
I assume Donald’s body was recovered, so am not sure how come Bluebird’s location was unknown? He had good taste in sports cars. Wonder if Lyons agreed a discount? Ditto David , Donald was found shortly after the boat was located in 2000/1, remarkably well preserved by the cold water temp that crea...

Re: Donald Campbell E-Type
The Campbell family did not want it disturbed initially , but after Bluebird's precise location had been found they were advised it would only be a matter of time before other sports divers etc would remove items for trophies/memorabilia ,...... so it would no longer be a peaceful resting place . I ...

Re: Wheel: what Tightening torque
Jaguar must have had quite an income at the time from spinners then , with MG ,Healey ,Aston,Triumph etc.. What surprised me was that Lotus threads are in the opposite direction as we all know what happens if we fit Jaguar hubs on the wrong side of the car !. Mark , ebay is your friend for the marki...

Re: Wheel: what Tightening torque
To simplify finding out the error of the spinners dimensions use engineers blue [stuarts] on both the hub end and thread also the wheel taper, fit and remove the spinner then read the results inside the spinner . Just to add a bit more to the tightening / loosening theory , Lotus spinners undo and t...

+1 for the fossway fan assembly , it's a bonded one piece shroud and Spal fan unit , looks correct too .
They can supply also a modern fan switch made to replace the otter switch .

Re: Rebuiding SU Carbs
I made a stepped ream Christopher, by tack welding a tube to the shank of the ream, the washers and the short tube in the 2nd photo achieve the desired depth . https://s31.postimg.cc/5d3d8set7/IMG_3592.jpg The other bits are a chuck centre for keeping the ream square and a drift made to insert the b...

Re: Rebuiding SU Carbs
Alan , You may find the carb bodies need reaming out to fit the new bushes , from memory to .375" ? . Be aware of not reaming straight through into the main venturi bore so to leave a small 1mm or so lip .I achieved that by placing a tube over the ream with washers making up incremental steps. Align...

Re: MOT no more?
It has been discussed elsewhere that a insurance company now had a clause exempting agreed values if you do not have an MOT , stating they will only honour market value .
So anyone intending not to MOT i would recommend they check their policy first .

Re: Bruce McLaren #15 E-type
The numerous small inaccuracies may seem annoying but the workmanship is to be applauded . Being critical the "pink" look of the seats/vinyl compared to the carpet is off putting , although its something i've seen only a few weeks ago on a freshly built E [BAS interior] , my wife suggested it could ...

Re: A different approach to Engine Stand Adapters
The door jig is a fab idea , but sorry to say that's where it ends for me . Maybe others see it different ? , i see a top heavy 3 wheeled engine stand of the lowest capacity with a modified raised centre of gravity just asking to be tipped over . https://s18.postimg.cc/p8ewc6yzt/DSC05058.jpg If you ...
