Hi,
That looks like a kit car to me. Dashboard area is a giveaway, along with the xj6 vin plate, the windscreen surround and many other non-etype features!

Re: Possible Stolen E Type
If you are going to check the VIN, I suggest you take lots of pics of the exterior and interior, chassis number stamping on the front frame, cylinder head number and the id plate on the driver’s side near the air filter. Post the pics on this site. You won’t be able to open the bonnet if the car is ...

Re: New member in East Anglia
Hi and welcome,
I have completed a nut n bolt rebuild of a 63 fhc last year and there are many others (both ‘amateur’ and professional) who have done the same. So, plenty of help and photos available on this splendid site!

Re: headlamp adjusting level ?
Hi The service manual gives this guidance: https://i.postimg.cc/x14yBYQC/B9-E43-C14-9-AB5-473-F-91-BD-149723572-FE9.jpg It doesn’t give heights as I guess there may be variances, but the starting point seems to be the lamp centres. I didn’t have 25’ of level ground so the MOT guys did it with their ...

Has he got a car cover for it? Or maybe a nice leather tool bag (matching the interior trim)?

Looking great. It looks like you’ve got the weather on your side as well - always a bonus. I guess it’s getting towards peak summer there?

Happy Birthday 889504
On the 26th November 1963, my Opalescent Golden Sand FHC rolled out of the factory, destined for New York and then to California. 57 years later, repatriated and restored I took it for a birthday blast (scenic route to get to the supermarket for essential supplies 😉) to celebrate. There will of cour...

Re: Boot board rail rubbers
Hi,
Yes you can, as I replaced mine in my 63 fhc. I’ll need to check where I got them from though.
I seem to remember having to cut them to a point to locate correctly in the rails.

The escutcheons only go one way up, as in your picture. The same on the driver’s side. And yes, both the handles will point in the same direction ie to the right when locked, up when unlocked. Bit of a pain if you suffer from OCD!

Re: Rubber seal kit ...again
I think you may find that seal kits sold by some of the main suppliers are actually from Baines. I got my S1 seal kit from Hutson’s and they were Baines sourced if I remember correctly. Give a few a call and ask them who supplies them.

Re: 1962 E-type exhumed after being bricked up in 1965
I’m inclined to agree with the scepticism. Restorers, auction houses and dealers love to add the ‘barn find’ moniker to a description as they think they can add a premium to their valuation. I guess the ‘bricked up garage’ is a new twist! The reality is more a case of the emperor’s new clothes. It’s...

Hi
The 2+2 has seating (for children or short adults!) behind the front seats. The FHC only has 2 seats. As a result, the 2+2 had a longer wheelbase and higher roofline. What is the chassis number of the car in question?
