Anyone reading this don't make the same mistake that I did. I moved the brackets 180 degrees and then the ignition lock hit the mounting bracket so wouldn't fit in the steering column... Stupid mistake I suppose but something to watch out for....apart from that relatively straightforward to convert ...

Thanks for that John.
I figured that would be the case.
Looking at moden rhd cars the position of the lhd indicator and ignition would be correct without altering it but I assume that the indicator stalk would be in the way of the choke levers if I just left it?
Can you confirm this?

S3 steering column differences from LHD to RHD

Hi Can someone tell me the difference between a LHD steering column and a rhd steering column on a S3. At present I have a LHD column with indicator stalk on left and ignition barrel on right. I have been looking for a decent picture on the web but can't really find what I want of a RHD column.. If ...

Thanks for the replies, the reason I asked the question is that I need to get the car off the ramp over to a fixed hoist to refit the engine unless you can install the engine from below which I don't think is possible? I took it out from above a la manual with the hoist. I will try and rig a frame u...

i am also converting from auto to manual I could be wrong but I think that the auto tunnel is wider than the manual so I don't think it would fit properly anyhow Can you not just alter your auto one by welding a gearstick turret on to it? I am sure if you buy the gaiter clamp ring this will give you...

Thanks for the quick response.

fuel tank vent pipe question

My fuel tank has three vent pipes which connect to a smaller tank on the left rear wheel-arch. This smaller tank has a pipe that runs along the car to the right front hand side and I gather should go to the carbon canister (which I don't have). This pipe wasn't connected to anything when I stripped ...

Thanks for that..the names Dean. I received a seal kit but there are no part nos on the bags that contain the seals and the A & B post seals (or what I presume to be) seem to be very similar in profile just different in length. I have spent a frustrating few hours looking on google for images and ca...

I would also appreciate someone telling me the correct joint where the a& b post meet the seal on the sill The seal kit I have has an a post seal that seems to be a metre too long? auto radiator and manual radiator differences

I have a good rad on my series 3 but I am changing from auto to manual and believe that the two rads are different
Anyone use an auto rad on a manual?
I don't have a manual rad to compare with so if someone has a brief explanation of the differences and if I can use it then I would appreciate it
