Re: 4.2 Suspicious sound

Hi,

It could be the timing gear chain relaxed and touching to the front cover.
Have a look.

Re: Series 1 - Dunlop Clutch master cylinder push rod length

Hi, This is the answer you waited for : It's an original one with large washer. https://i.postimg.cc/13rKbTR2/20200930-135508.jpg The spacer came for the série 2 because of they changed the master cylinder (45°). For the serie 1- 3.8 and 4.2 the master cylinder ( 90°) and pushrod have both the same ...

Re: Series 1 - Dunlop Clutch master cylinder push rod length

Hi, I solved my problem and purhaps it could help you. I remembered I kept my original master cylinder and changed only the push rod. The new push rod had a smaller captive washer and it passed throught any retainer clips. I refit my original push rod with the orginal clip and it stopped at the good...

Re: Series 1 - Dunlop Clutch master cylinder push rod length

Hi I have the same problem. The spacer is a solution but I don't think it's THE solution. Looking the "factory fit" There's no spacer for the serie 1 - 3.8l neither for the serie 1- 4.2L. so the solution is elsewhere. The length of the pushrod is important and also the captive washer on the rod witc...

Re: Impact noise on each bump

There's no stupid answer of course !
I checked my exhaust, put in line the engine /gearbox, changed the spring and center bush and adjusted carrefully the stabilisater.
Now I wait to make a try on the road.
I'll check the shock absorber if there is still some fault.
Thanks

Re: Impact noise on each bump

I wanted this to be the solution so badly... But I did the job right. https://i.postimg.cc/sX0wPpMs/20200908-152647.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/5NvW0tr6/20200908-152713.jpg What I did notice, though: 1 - The engine/gearbox assembly is not in line with the gearbox mount. No more than 5 mm but still. We ...

Re: Impact noise on each bump

Thanks Steve,
I set the engine stabiliser yes but I'm going to repair what I did wrong, so I'll be obliged to unscrew it and I'l recheck it after.
Thanks for your help.

Impact noise on each bump

Hi, I need help please ! Coming back from vacations in Brittany which were the 1st long km after a total restoration of the engine and the front part, I noticed a problem of shock on each bump. Metallic shocks that I could feel under my feet from time to time. I put the car on the lift and I think i...

Hi Keith...the pin and washer should not be on the rear mount....it is just an assembly/ transit aid.....by haveing the pin in place it does not allow the gearbox the movd up/down on the spring.....Steve Hi Steve, Sorry but did I understand well that there is no pin when the car is on the road ? Re: Diamond Jubilee E-Type's

I think I understand that the price could be (there is no official price for the moment) £600,000 for the OTS + FHC pair. If people can buy these cars, it's perfect for them, right? Like the vast majority, I can't, but that's not a problem at all. Jaguar employees have work to do, the image of the E...

Re: Clutch/ engine / ? Problem

Keith What I can advise you to do is to go to an EType racing specialist because that's what your transformation looks like. Someone who knows the gearbox/clutch/racing engine chain well and above all knows the parts and the settings that are specific and vital for this kind of transformation. A rac...

Re: [edited] Spin on oil filter vs retrofitting OEM filter housing on Series 1

Hi, Missing. I'll forget the washers you have. You must used the thicker seal. With a knife, "cut" or " break" the interior angle of the seal, oil it, and it will fit more easialy into the grove. You'll must to push hard anyway. Don't tighten the canister just like that, you must centerlised it prop...

Re: Clutch/ engine / ? Problem

Hi Keith If in neutral the small idle is about 700 rpm steady, I will look at the clutch release bearing. It looks like with the gear engaged, the clutch depressed, you still have a drive that stalls the engine. The rattle could come from the bearing also. When the clutch isn't depress and with the ...
