Re: FM/DAB radio reception

I don't think I would notice the difference with the top down  We all use it for different things. Some want to listen to the news or a radio 4 program, so it isn't always about the sound quality or even stereo in some cases. FM is being turned off in some parts of the world and it is still ...

ah, by creating a vacuum I meant having the car running in neutral rather than a vacuum bleed system.

Re: Serious brake bleed issues

I remember that once when the garage were bleeding the brakes, they had a devil of a job. Pressure systems, traditional method etc. etc.

Only when we created vacuum did the system bleed properly and the whole thing was done in minutes. Just a thought for you.

Re: Water pump

xks.com made up new water pumps with new castings for all the variations. They have now been bought out by Moss. I emailed Moss to see if they are making some of these parts available in the UK market. They have no current plans to do so "en masse" but will provide quotes for supply to the UK if you...

Have a look around on some of the forums. "good car DAB+ aerial" etc. etc. You should be able to get some recommendations for your exact requirements.

Re: DAB radio for 1974 E type.

I use a windscreen mounted with mine. It goes vertically. You get one in the box with many DAB+ radios these days. That one didn't have the greatest reception and I changed it and put in a ZEMEX DAB / DAB+ antenna which has been a big improvement. The best is always a body mounted aerial and a winds...

Re: The Great MoT Confusion

I too waited for the Tax renewal notice from the DVLA (for my GT6), and then couldn't sort out this MOT exemption business. Ended up calling them and they fixed it all straightaway in a couple of minutes. Sometimes it's just simpler to speak to someone. I know the online system should work correctly...

Re: Temporary or drive away insurance for classic car

Some people, as part of their insurance have 3rd party insurance to drive another person's car with the owner's permission. That could be possibly the cheapest way to do it. Or get a quote on Shiply.com - I've used it a couple of times. Not only do they transport on trailers but also the option some...

Re: Heat Shrink

Hi Ian :-) I am about to replace that exact section on mine! (LHD though) It also depends what the PO had used the insulating tape for - to insulate a join made (replace with heat shrink) or to just bind them together out of the way. I will have the wires between the two reservoirs without any furth...

Re: Heat Shrink

I'm not sure if you are getting heat shrink and standard sleeving mixed up. Heat shrink is used to insulate and add strength to connections, e.g. joining 2 wires or a wire onto a connector e.g. a ring or spade connector. Sleeving is sometimes used to loosely group some wires together. e.g. 2 wires t...

I was having a chat with another owner at the weekend on our Swiss eType Register 2 day tour. He also has a Stainless steel exhaust. I raised with him the point about mild steel sounding better. He agreed and said the secret was to get thicker stainless steel and it will sound on-par with the mild s...

Mangoletsi give a list of the UK dealers on their website. Perhaps one of them may have a definitive answer.

Re: Wheel: what Tightening torque

Thanks. Thinking on it some more, I know that O/S hub has definitely been replaced in the last 2 years. The other's I'm uncertain of their history. The aftermarket eared spinners have been off the car for over 2 years. Taking a look, I can definitely see the grease has not hit the end of the threads...
