Re: adhesive advice for diaphragms that hold headlights
I originally used Sikaflex, but one diaphragm would repeatedly let go after a few months of driving. (Actually, the glue is holding the diaphragm BRACKET to the bonnet, not the diaphragm itself.) A couple of months ago i was in there doing some headlight work, and decided to try something different....

Marek is too much of a gentleman to post his own products, but I can do it.
A challenging project, but the results are spectacular:

Here's a couple of pics of Marek's LED reverse lights in action. White for reverse, red for brakes. Very cool!

Re: Two carb set up
Without knowing precisely what his difficulties may be, I will strongly recommend adjustable jets for the 69-vintage Stromberg carbs , which have non-adjustable jets. We could not tune the "lean" out of my carbs. Joe Curto adjustable jets were a godsend. REALLY woke up the motor and made tuning and ...

Re: E-Type Roadster Boot lid springs open
I found out that I need to push the release handle in after opening mine, or it doesn't latch securely. Popped open while driving, like an air brake.

Re: Electronic Ignition - carb ported vacuum versus manifold vacuum?
If you use manifold vacuum, you have max vacuum at idle and therefore maximum advance at idle. If you have a 16 degreee capsule, you would have 10 plus 16 = 26 degree at idle. You would have a stumblingidle and therefore a very bad smell out of the exhaust, because of unburned HC. Regards Wolfgang ...

My experience as a painter has been that PPG and other top tier suppliers have always been able to replicate a paint shade exactly. Did you apply their color and find it to be incorrect? Wanting to educate myself...

Re: 1969 E Type Series 2 fuses are smoking hot
My first guess would be a dirty fuse holder and connector. Clean with a wire brush and contact cleaner. Squeeze it together to ensure good contact.

Following with interest. I have this exact problem with my 69.
BTW, we did just fix my buddy's Spitfire Stromberg idle problem by blocking off the bypass circuit, just as described above.

I straightened my steering shaft, it was bent about the same amount. Just used a press and some gentle nudging. Checked it with a straight edge.

Re: Missing at high revs under load
Interesting.i had a repro dizzy cap that the spring-loaded center button broke cleanly off, right at the plastic. The car still ran, but had a random miss. Took me a bit of time to find, because the cap was only a couple of weeks old.AnD3rew wrote: It was the distributor cap.

Re: Missing at high revs under load
I had the same issue with my S2. I found that the Strombergs were running lean. Fitted adjustable jets and the car has improved response, no more miss/misfire. Its fun again!
