Re: New clutch

In my EV12 I needed a lot of leg-power, to push the clutch pedal. After I had mounted a new clutch (automat plus disc) the pwer to push the pedal has reduced a lot. When I hat the old clutch in my car, I have mounted a cylinder with a piston with less diameter. After this change, the force to push t...

Re: Thermostatic Vacuum Valve and Retard Unit

"Mixtures adjusted with colour tunes as it was set too weak and really affecting the hot running." If you have mounted a different "sport exhaust" system, the motor is running leaner at half or full throttle, also you have adjusted the mixture at iddle correct. If air-filter or exhaust have a highe...

Re: V12 E-type EFI

Here are the good reasons , why a advance capsule MUST be connected to PORTED vacuum. If you don't believe, I can send a picture from a professionell "Bosch" book about "motor-management". If you connect it to one of the 12 "pipes" between carb and inlet valve, you have MAXIMUM vacuum at idle. If yo...

Re: Heavy clutch

I had a similar problem. At the end of the life of the clutch plate, the power to press the pedal completely rose to a uncomfortable amount. I changed the clutch master to another, which had a piston with a smaler diameter. This worked. After I had renewed the clutch plate, the amount of hydraulic w...

Re: Thermostatic Vacuum Valve and Retard Unit

I have a 2,88 and a 5-gear Getrag with 0,81 in fifth. At 90 mph the motor revs with 2700 rpm. The car runs smooth, unexicited and gas saving (19 - 21 mpg when crusing with the V12 6,0 L motor. Like jagwit says: long gearing is much more "feelable" than an injection. I made with the EV12 6,0L a drag ...

Re: Thermostatic Vacuum Valve and Retard Unit

"Longer term I have a full Plus Torque kit from AJ6 so plan to fit EFi to the FHC but am still mulling whether to use the modified Jag ECU or to go with MS or similar. Cheers" I offer a bet: the torque of a well working EV12 motor woth 4 Strombies has between roundabout 2000 and 3800 rpm a higher t...

Re: Thermostatic Vacuum Valve and Retard Unit

I have bought my EV12 in 2001. The owner has mounted a advance capsule und connected to the drilling at the LHR carb below. I fiddled 2 years with problems, spoke to some garage idiots, which understand nothing, red some books and started thinking and investigation about ignition. 1. Every gas motor...

Re: stromberg alternative anyone fitted 4 x SU HIF 44?

I don't think, that they will peforme better , than well adjusted Stromberg carbs. If there at 2500 rpm is a flat spot, the 4 needles must be a little bit less thick at a certain aera, The problem is , to find this part of the needle, which has to be "reshaped". Maybe the needles of the early UK car...

A "well done" EV12 with a Getrag and a 2,88 diff runs roundabout 16 - 22 miles with a gallon. My EV12 6,0L takes 13,5 L/100kmon long distance driving and up to 17,5 L on short-distance driving. Not so bad.

"However there are some aspects that may impact long term reliability." Maybe this is correct, maybe not. I have a Getrag since 28 years in my EV12. Since 5 Years the Getrag is "punished" by a 6,0 L motor. Until today no problems. A friend of me has a EV12 6,0 L with injection and a Getrag and he i...

I know a garage in Germany, which has "mounted" an automatic from a X300 4,0 into a XJ6 series III. I don't know how they have solved the problem to fit the automatic to the motor of the XJ6.

Looks great ! But the "inlet pipes" are much too short , that the motor can use dynamic gas movement below 6000 rpm. The resonating frequency of these short lenth is much higher than 50 per second. 50 per second is 6000 rpm of the crank.
Same for the short headers.

Hello Paul ! I know two guys which have EV12 6,0 L (from a '93 limousine) with remapped ECU's from earlier V12 cars. The remapping has be done from AJ6. Two times the result have been a desaster. One car has a very bad (stumbling) iddle and a very high gas consumption. The mixture is much to fat. Ho...
