Re: Has any got one of these please?

I am being told by all the suppliers that the fresh air conduit shown in the picture is from a series 2 car. The photo - which is the one I sent them all - is from a series 1 car and lifted from the "Factory Fit" series 1 4.2 library in this very forum. Please can anyone confirm which type I need on...

Re: Importing V55/5 Reg document pic ?

Thanks John, thats a damned good idea and even though the DVLA pack didn't ask for this, if I include such a letter it may just short circuit the whole process and avoid the SCS interview. I think its worth a bit of trouble to do it so I will get on the case and contact the JEC. Is there anyone with...

Can I change my Avatar?

Does anyone know if I can change my Avatar? Mine is V12Steve as this is what I was going to buy originally when I joined the forum..... but ended up with S1 instead - lucky me! It just seems a bit inappropriate now? I would be grateful for any advice as how I can do this, or just confirmation that I...

Has any got one of these please?

Hello, I'm trying to buy the correct Bonnet to heater conduit but seem to be struggling. The only one that SNGB supply has a much wider mouth where it attaches to the bulkhead. The one I need is as per this photo from the "original fit section". Has anyone an idea where I might be able to get one of...

Re: Converting an S2 dash board to S1

That sounds really encouraging..... The dash is NOT the aluminium type but the later covered type. It comes with all the instruments and switches. I guess if I keep my own rev counter I will just lose the clock - which (from this forum) seems pretty problematical anyway? Is it just the handles for t...

Converting an S2 dash board to S1

Hello, me again! All of a sudden Ive become a regular. I hope thats OK? You may remember that I am in the process of restoring my S1.5 roadster 4.2 from 1967. It's not a matching numbers car and is not special in any way at all, other than being an E Type of course! I have already built in quite a f...

Re: Importing V55/5 Reg document pic ?

I just thought I would bring everyone up to date on this as I have just applied to get my imported E Type (USA) registered in the UK. Following advice from an earlier thread, I applied to the DVLA to get a "pack" to do this (details on the DVLA Website) and within a week it duly turned up. It was ve...

Re: Painting the bonnet inside and engine frames - process?

Thank you all, especially James for his thoughtful response and photos. That has been very helpful and enabled me to be clear what to do next. The bonnet is already in bits again so I will follow your advice and paint the flanges, and possibly the inner headlight areas to make sure I get paint every...

Re: Painting the bonnet inside and engine frames - process?

Thanks Jerome, you're right! It is too late and I should have painted all the flanges before I started. No matter, we are where we are! So for the nose cone, you paint that by just getting in there do you? I feel that there would be areas that I would struggle to get to. I suppose runs don't matter ...

Painting the bonnet inside and engine frames - process?

Hello again, progress is moving on with my car. I have now repaired/stripped/and primed the bonnet and fitted it to the car with its new engine frames to the point that, (after months of work) I am happy with the shut lines and everything else. The next part of the plan is to dismantle it again and ...

Re: Build engine frames around the engine?

I didn't think you can undo/tighten the bolts connecting the bell housing to the block with the engine in situ as they are inserted from the back and are 4" long. I would have thought the tunnel and the bulkhead would be in the way?
Clearly i am mistaken and it is possible.
I prefer plan A though!😉

Re: registration of U.S. import.

Hi guys, did anyone have to inspect the car for the DVLA? My mate just had his Healey done and an inspector turned up (by appointment) to check it and he had to see it move under its own power!! He didn't have the original USA paperwork though so maybe that's why. He was OK as the car was finished. ...

Re: SNG Barratt User Group

I would be happy to be involved. I am 75% of the way through restoring my S1 roadster and have bought about £10k's worth of parts off SNGB. Mostly good news and good service. I live in Tewkesbury and happy to do the drive, although I will be under Healey power as the Jag will not be finished by then...

Build engine frames around the engine?

Hello, I wonder if anyone can give me same advice? I have a 67 S1 4.2 roadster that I am 75% of the way through rebuilding. The body work is nearly done - it just needs painting, the engine is finished and the IRS is completely rebuilt and ready to fit. I've done all the work myself and while I have...
