Build engine frames around the engine?
Hello, I wonder if anyone can give me same advice? I have a 67 S1 4.2 roadster that I am 75% of the way through rebuilding. The body work is nearly done - it just needs painting, the engine is finished and the IRS is completely rebuilt and ready to fit. I've done all the work myself and while I have...

DHC door window frames
Hi, my 1967 DHC resto project is missing both door window frames. I have the winders but not the frames. Does anyone have an idea where I might be able to buy some second hand ones?
Any help would be appreciated! I think S1 or S 2 will work.
Thank you.

Re: XJS Crown wheel and pinion in my e type housing
Hi Dave, thank you for your detailed reply and the link - which was really informative. Unfortunately my car is not a matching numbers car but even so as I am into a total rebuild and plan to renew all the bearings and oil seals anyway. I may as well retain the S1 diff casing as this looks quite dif...

Re: XJS Crown wheel and pinion in my e type housing
Sorry I meant to say that my car is a S1 4.2 roadster. Not a V12 as my avatar might suggest!

XJS Crown wheel and pinion in my e type housing
Hello, I managed to get hold of a Powerlok XJS diff with a 3.07:1 ratio and intend to replace my E types 3.54:1 crown wheel and pinion with the one from the XJS. I know the external measurement of the XJS unit is about 1" wider than the E Type's but I am told the internal measurements are the same a...

Re: XJ6 camshaft compatible with E Type?
Thank you to everyone for your replies. they answered my questions perfectly and the links were very useful too. Much appreciated! I have quite a few photo's of the bodywork progress so far that I need to post here as comments are always useful - new inner and outer sills, repair panels in the usual...

Re: XJ6 camshaft compatible with E Type?
Thanks Johan, yes they are 4 bolted cams. I've seen threads on this and the issues, which I think will be ok. My concern is performance v a regular E Type cam.
I Will pm Peter Crespin in case he missed my post. Thanks for the lead!

Re: XJ6 camshaft compatible with E Type?
Thanks Geoff, unfortunately I don't think it was a series 3 XJ6. The inlet valves are the same at 1.75" the exhausts are the same diameter too.

XJ6 camshaft compatible with E Type?
Hi, I am restoring a 1967 4.2 E type roadster (OTS) series 1.5 but unfortunately it is not a matching numbers car. The engine number in the car is 7L 90370-L which is clearly a low compression unit and I think it comes from a circa 1973 XJ6 4.2 as far as I can establish. The cylinder head on it is j...

Re: Is there a vent on S1 sills?
Thank you for your replies. I was at E Type day at Prescott on Sunday and spent a few hours on my hands and knees praying that mine will eventually look like some of these beauties!! While I was down there I noticed that many of the cars have vents just like the ones I pictured, but there seems to b...

Is there a vent on S1 sills?
Hi all, I am new to the forum and have recently bought a 1967 S1.5 E roadster from the states. I'd needs some work, inner and outer sills and a boot floor so getting into that now. Whilst an amateur I have some experience and am reasonably confident. I shall post some pics later but I have a query. ...
