Re: Steering column too short!
Hi Tom, Yes, the car did originally have power steering. The original power steering rack has been removed and this has a longer rack tower which the lower part of the steering column attaches to, hence the reason why it's short. Had thought of lengthening the existing column by welding another piec...

Steering column too short!
On converting my US spec Series 2, 2+2 to right hand drive I have found that the new steering column I obtained is too short. Has anyone else come across this problem and if so how did you get over it?

Re: Bolt-on triple eared spinners
Thanks Steve. You're quite right, SNG Barratt do them and refer to them as ''dummy'' spinners........once again..........not particularly cheap at £582 for 4!

Re: Bolt-on triple eared spinners
Thanks Peter but couldn't find bolt-on spinners on Orson's website. The steel wheels on my Series 2 are the same as early XJ6 and Series 3 E types. The hub caps don't do them any favours, appearance-wise though, so I have removed them. 3 eared spinners would really set off the wheels as they would g...

Bolt-on triple eared spinners
Can anyone recommend a supplier for triple eared bolt-on spinners for standard steel wheels, at reasonable cost?

Re: series 2 federal spec air filter
Hi Steve, I have the same problem on my Series 2, 2+2..........doing exactly the same as you are doing, swapping the steering over! I wondered if the Series 3 air cleaner might fit, but so far no-one has come up with an answer as to whether it does!...........see my query in Technical Forum. Let me ...

Re: S2 LHD/RHD steering conversion
Thanks for clarifying things on the engine mounting spacers front..........most helpful. Has anyone out there fitted a Series 3 V12 type air cleaner to a Series 2 twin Stromberg engine and so possibly avoided the clearance with the pedal box problems?

Re: S2 LHD/RHD steering conversion
Thanks for your advice on the engine mounts.........they are worn and are in the process of being replaced. I would question the wisdom of using spacers though. I would have thought this could cause other problems. On a different tack.....Has anybody successfully replaced twin Stromberg's with tripl...

Re: S2 LHD/RHD steering conversion
Many thanks Andrew and Steve...........very helpful. I have been advised that I have 2 options.........1) Fit triple SU's instead, (a very nice but very expensive alternative to ditching the twin Stromberg's) or 2) Fit different (and smaller) separate air cleaners, eg. K&N pancake filters, Lynx RF35...

S2 LHD/RHD steering conversion
I have a Series 2 1970 US spec automatic 2+2 that is currently being converted to right hand drive. The company doing the work have said that the pedal box clashes with the air cleaner, (twin Stromberg's set-up). Has anyone come across this problem and if so how did you solve it? Thanks.....Tim
