V12 Not Starting - Starter Dead.

Just got my series 3 back on the road after a full body re-build. I have an intermittant problem. The starter motor will not turn and no clicks from the relay. It's an Auto so tried moving the gear selector but still nothing. Then after about an hour it starts! Could it be a sticky micro switch on t...

Glad you found it useful. I had a Stag in the late 70's one of the nicest cars to drive at the time. It was a manual with overdrive. I have noted that according to DVLA it's still around today. Always wondered what had happened to it. Reg was DOX 663K. Mike

Christopher, everyone to their own.
I only posted it because it's a very good price for VR1 and the oil is a premium oil for classic engines. Some of the large restorers swear by it. I can buy much cheaper oil too, but prefer to use VR1.

DECAL LOCATION ON SERIES 3

There seems to be a few engine compartment located decals for the series 3. I have ordered a number of them for my nearly completed series 3 UK spec OTS restoration. Can anyone point me in the right direction of finding a definitive map of where the decals should be located.
Thanks
Mike.

I know if I spray from a distance to try to layer the paint on it doesn't seem to want to go on too well. Trying to get the spraying distance right without putting too much on and risk it running is the dilemma. !

Hi Francis, just done my series 3 heater box. Totally stripped it using emery paper and a wire wheel on an electric drill. Plus i did it the lazy way and masked everything up and did it in situ. Used Hamerite smooth gloss in black. Think the results aren't too bad. Mike. http://i1224.photobucket.com...

Good to hear it is working well. I will invest in some water wetter as well. Although I have also had the radiator re-cored with a high efficiecy core with 20% more cooling veins. Fortunately for me with my car being an OTS the rocker switch on the main panel - right hand side is redundant. So we wi...

Can anyone recommend a modern day Automatic Transmission Fluid for a series 3 V12 Auto. The book gives a number of 70's manufactured fluids but I was wondering what equivalent is the right one today. I understand that there are certain types that you shouldn't use Dexron for example.
Thanks. Mike.

Garry, That looks to be it. If you look carefully you can still see the outline of where the tag used to be. It is more likely that when the car was re-painted in the past someone has removed the tag as there is no sign of the rivets either. I am sure someone must be able to make a new one up, they ...

Hi Garry, The Body Number Tag on my car was fixed with two pop rivets on the rear panel just to the left of the right hand rear lamp housing. If your car has had this panel replaced at some time then there is every chance that the repairers may not have transferred the tag onto the new panel. Good l...

Andrew, looking at the picture of the shock it has stamped on it Girling Decarbon. Plus the shock is held in its compressed state by some plastic strapping. I think !

Yes Philipe, it is an original. I managed to talk to the very first owner. I tracked him down from the Heritage Certificate. It was registered in the name of a Company and that Company still exists and the person who owned the car is still a Director of the Company. He confirmed that the hard top wa...
