Re: I have seriously improved my E-Type!

I wanted something made from iron and look like it was made in the midlands :-)

In my car, the plastic part was missing, I could not find it at SNG, so a quick thought and „gimme the welding gun“- and thats it.

And afterwards I thought you might like it...

I have seriously improved my E-Type!

Hi, I have improved my E-Type by inventing a special bolt to fix the lower part of the air dustbin: This is the upper side of the bolt: UNF: https://up.picr.de/35695486un.jpeg This is the lower side: UNC and the seam I made: https://up.picr.de/35695489qi.jpeg Main idea was to invent a bolt which can...

Re: Security Query

Maybe a slight variation of this one is an idea: I heard of a guy who put a remote control on his bicycle, and fitted the payload of an airbag in the saddle !

Many thanks David !

I‘ve now seen it. I do not really miss Ben Niblett‘s soundtrack, but I think they should have put Norman behind the wheel !

Re: How to set camber, caster and toe-in DIY ?

I now had a look at the values for camber for example - and it is very small. Like 1/4 deg positive with + - 1/2 as „error“.

Hence, is the Gunson gauge precise enough ? All I think I can set is „lower end between 0 and 1“, and leave it.

Re: inside jaguar. xkss

Sadly I cannot see it. Channel 4 blocks „service not available in your area“.

VPN did not help neither setting region to UK etc.

So, I have to wait until it comes up on dailymotion or youtube...

Re: C17544 special washer under air intake box wing nuts

I will take a pic of my two winged nuts :-), so we can compare.

Maybe the one I found on the car is the weitd one, and the repro is the better one ?

We‘ll see.

Re: C17544 special washer under air intake box wing nuts

I am still looking for one original wing nut. I have one original and one repro, but the repro looks different.

Anyone a source ? Where they used on other Jags, maybe in other places ?

Re: How to set camber, caster and toe-in DIY ?

Ok I made this today: https://up.picr.de/35620442gp.jpeg The bolts are a bit tipped on the end. I got an amazing result: 3 of 4 wheels are 0 or max 1 deg. Rear right is a tad flat tyre-wise, and is 3 or 4 degs, I have to take out one shim on the driveshaft. But I just went along after making it, so ...

Re: Leaking fuel pipe

Curil is, from memory, a smeary paste which is fuel resistant and seals. And it does not harden.

Like Hylomar but withstands fuel.

There are variants nowadays like Curil T or K2, see yourself- I still have some of the stuff from the 80s, and I still sometimes use it.

Re: How to set camber, caster and toe-in DIY ?

I just bought the Gunson version - there are lots of 13 Euro chinese ones on ebay, I am not sure how precise they are. The first to look a bit better is Asta A-mcg, but this costs the same as the gunson „used as new from amazon“ version I bought, 31 Euros. Normally, the gunson one is 50 Euros. So, l...

How to set camber, caster and toe-in DIY ?

I have to fine tune the front axle at least to a point where I could seriously take the car to a shop. I don‘t want them to put hours and hours on the bill because of the complexity- I want to be near a proper result when I go there. Not perfect, but near. Now, I asked myself how to do it. Toe- in: ...

Re: Series 1 2+2 values

Yes, I just tested the „real people“ thing with a 15 yr old who happens to be 1.96 mtrs in size, and having a partially stiffened spline. He fits, and even said its comfy in the S1 seats. He missed headrests, and the book shelves make it a bit tight. But then, fit such a Longwood in the FHC. Or in a...

I have the same on my S1 2+2 (Pete‘s shell). Pete once told me not to paint the car in a bright colour, because it would look like it‘s wearing a small hat then....so I stuck with dark blue.

Re: Bonnet wont stay up on its own

I read somewhere you can pre-adjust the spring arm mechanism, it has long holes to be slid up and down. Yours truely has still to understand how it works, but that seems a way to go, maybe together with new springs. Furthermore it is often said that bondo filled bonnets do not stay open, I guess it ...
