Re: S3 Fuel Expansion Tank
So, it's a negative on the expansion tank or ancillaries. So perhaps madjacks solution is a go for now, unless I can find a set of these things. Willing to bet they won't be cheap though. I might look at a jerry rigged setup, perhaps a rubber bladder of some sort or an expansion tank from something ...

Re: Brake Resevoir Sender
Brilliant! As easy as that. Normally I would have just had a go, I don't know what it is about this car that still has me a little apprehensive on things.
Thank you Colin!!

S3 Fuel Expansion Tank
Ah. So, I figured out why the car stinks so much of fuel if I fill up, I changed the gaskets on the sender and the blanking plate thinking that would be it. But, I filled up to check it and sure enough, plenty of fuel smell. Lo and behold I find 2 breather pipes on the side of the tank which are att...

Re: Speed Hump Scraping - Custom Exhaust
Ole, I used to own a '63 Ford Galaxie in Florida - I "didn't bother" to ship it over and sold it. Regretted it ever since :) Would have been worth a load more here. It's not that expensive after all and depending where you are in UK you may find a garage to rent nearby. However, I agree, UK seems to...

Brake Resevoir Sender
Has anyone disassembled the brake resevoir sender and replaced the cork? I couldn't find it with the search. I assume the cork has become saturated, as it no longer floats. I had the thought to replace it with one of the plastic corks from a wine bottle, but wanted to ask if taking the aluminium tub...

Re: Speed Hump Scraping - Custom Exhaust
Jesus OLE - that underside is sparkling clean - mine's a little further along, I'm at the stage of rust preventer and flakey paint :) Mark, I don't have the Opus system, I'm not sure what I have, I need to ask the fella that just did the work on it. I am wondering about EFI though. I get a lot of fu...

Stromberg 175 CD2 Carburettor Float Chamber Plug Leak
Hi Guys n Gals, So, I had the leaky float chamber plug on the 2 front carbs on my S3 2+2. I solved it temporarily with some rubber grease and wanted to order a replacement plug. You can get just the O ring, however the plugs are looking yellow and brittle, so I thought it can't be too expensive to r...

Re: Speed Hump Scraping - Custom Exhaust
Nice Mark! She starts very easily, have you upgraded the starter? I was thinking of doing this, mine sometimes doesn't engage and needs a second go. I managed to fix 2 more gremlins today - Brakes were binding when warm and in traffic, tap them and they grip on, bit of red rubber grease on the small...

Re: Speed Hump Scraping - Custom Exhaust
Update. Yep. The old hangers had been left on, so obviously replacing those has made a huge difference and I can now make it of the ugliest bumps with a light scrape, rather than the bone chilling crunch on the tiniest bumps. So, great! I still suffer greatly from the ingress of exhaust fumes into t...

Re: Speed Hump Scraping - Custom Exhaust
Brilliant ideas all round. I have noticed today that after coming back from having the work done, unfortunately - the exhaust work was missed! Disappointing to say the least. Didn't even change the perished rubber exhaust hangers. So, Ill get me some new rubber hangers to start with and see what dif...

Speed Hump Scraping - Custom Exhaust
Howdy folks, I finally got my car back after about 6 months - thanks Covid! Driving in London I have the blessed speed hump issue with the S3 scraping the centre boxes when I drive over anything higher than a matchstick. Have replaced all the hanging rubbers but that didn't change much. As I now nee...

Yea I was thinking skid plates. Maybe a skateboard
I'll do as you say, try everything to keep the stance. Likewise I feel it's part of the charm.
Otherwise I might ask you about those adjustables.

SOLD to the man called Graham
Thank you. She kinda caught my eye too, to state the obvious.
Haven't seen her since lockdown though. Went off for a look over by Angus Moss just before.. if it wasn't for the hole in my bank acc6 I wouldn't know I'd bought it

Re: E-type Tinder
Thanks Philip, The mechanic I've sent it to is a recommendation from the good guys of this forum and by all accounts is the right guy. I feel like this car deserves a bit of correction. I wait with baited breath to find out just how much correction that is. Hoping for nothing earth shattering, but t...
