I found removing the steering wheel helped because its a tricky maneuver with a FHC and no doubt you've already seen the central instrument/under dash board light bulb wires (2).

Just had my Tax disc back from poplargreg and very pleased. I went for 6 months duration so then, in my case, the expiry fell in the same year as first registered. XVS's there 4 years ago and they were a little cheaper than MVS, Longstone and Vintage Tyres at the time. They are not insured to take wheels directly off cars but do have the...

rfs1957 If you look at the very first picture in this thread one can see where the end of the crack on the metal plate is out of line. The hole is where the rubber mount is attached by a nut on this visible side so this confirms movement in the opposite direction to engine mounted weight. Trust me I...

These frame engine mount cracks can be a sign that the car has been lifted wrongly i.e.by a jack under the engine or lifting the engine without unbolting the engine mounts. Or put it another way; the frame mounts are designed to accept force primarily downwards (engine weight) however these cracks w...

Hi Peter

Look daft! I think not, you get great handling and no heavy steering and looks right IMHO. Here you have XVS 185's on 6 inch rims;

Hi David I did this mechanical switch mod as "described" in the upgrades section although it took me 2 hours! down to bracket making. Interesting to hear you mention keeping the hydraulic switch connected as a back up. I initially disconnected it thinking it might increase the output to the rear bul...

Hi Kes

If it's the same as a series 1 4.2 try looking on the right hand side of the brake servo low down protruding from the horizontal brake pipe.

Hi Neil I've been down your route, a little, trying to restore bezels and gauges etc. I ended up dropping a piece of glass and because of this I ended up using this company: www.thegaugeshop.com. For 6 powder coated bezels, 12 "O" rings/seating seals, 1 new glass, I new black metal "Water" plate + p...

Hi Ian

It's worth the extra cost and messy fingers sticking it down! My footwells are water proof and I take the underlay and mats out to dry if they get wet from shoes etc.

I have made a point of checking this and "restoration stories" thread frequently particularly as it's moving so fast "rear end tomorrow" a man with time on his hands!! Incidentally, unclerob, it may be a 2+2 but don't let this be a disappointment it is still a series 1 which makes it quite rarer tha...
