Re: Car jacking

I use a Thor nylon faced mallet No. 716 it has 2" dia faces & has a weight of 2 3/4 lbs. A big plus is that the ends screw in & can be replaced if need be & they will not mark the spinners. We use these hammers in the machine shop mostly on the mills to tap down parts before machining & they do not ...

Re: That’s what friends are for!

Hi Paul.
Looks like a great day, the XK120 is a lovely car to drive, I have been lucky enough to own & restore one.
Very different to drive than an E-type of course , but any XK engine is great to hear & drive.
Car looks great with the painted wire wheels.

Re: Cooling fan options

I have the cool cat fitted to two cars its very good.
Also Ken is very helpful, although if he has not got any in stock its no problem to buy direct it works out about the same price.
Also go for the better temp sender ( also available fro Fossway )

Re: New battery recommendation

Hi Neil.
I use a Yuasa battery part number YBX3214 it fits very well . I have fitted a few & they last very well.
I get mine from BBL batteries good price too.
I have not had much luck with the old type of batteries I find the cases are prone to splitting .
Hope this helps Neal.

Re: Bonnet Balance Link Assembly

David. I zinc & clear pass mine , I dismantle them first then bead blast them ( you have to machine new pivot bolts to rivet over on re assembly ) then I get them plated. The ones on my FHC were plated about 6 years ago & still look good . I have just done the same on my DHC but very few miles yet. ...

Re: Help pls - Alternator voltage too high, blowing LEDs?

Many thanks Jeremy. I see what you are saying in that the diode just reduces the incoming voltage by 0.7 volts what ever that voltage is. It will not work if there is a higher spike in the voltage . You will also need to protect the extra brake light LED's that are part of the setup. I was hoping fo...

Re: Help pls - Alternator voltage too high, blowing LEDs?

Did anyone come up with an answer on how to protect Marek's LED reversing light.
Its a great piece of kit but I would like to keep it that way.
Its the only LED lights on the car.
Many thanks Neal.

Re: Clip-On Bullet Mirror

Did you need to cut the rubber in the window channel to get it to fit, or was there room for the bracket to slid in between the chrome & the rubber.
Thanks Neal.

Re: Electrics, wiper motor

Hi Geoff.
I have done it a number of times & its no problem to take the motor apart to rewire it.
Its best to use/buy just the wire in the colours required rather than buying a loom .

Re: Tools?

Mostly AF sizes there are a few BSF/BSW spanners needed on the carburettors .
5/16 to about 1" AF covers most things with 7/16 to 3/4 being the most used.
A good socket set is needed to.

I use O-ring cored you can buy it in lots of dia. then bond it at the ends with a type of super glue.
I buy mine from Simply Bearings & they do free delivery on any orders.
