Julian, I guessed as much but couldn't resist a bit of fun. That's one element of the forum to bring a smile to our faces, we can have fun WITH others, not at others' expense

Re: 4000 rpm limit 123 distributor

It is very frustrating that the Jag version of the 123 with its 16 curves only has one that is close to the standard dizzy and even that needs retarding at idle by a few degrees or it’ll be too advanced at high revs :banghead: All other curves are far more aggressive.

Re: Sovy Failure

Neal, one observation is that a plastic bottle allows you to see the fluid level and not just rely on the dash display. Even taking the cap off we should see some sort of level marker (a tab?) inside, without needing a torch to shine into it. Also, would they use the standard caps? If the price is c...

“Convertible” E Type?

The latest JEC magazine has arrived in the eco-friendly paper envelope on which is an advert from CMC for a 1965 Jaguar E Type 4.2 Series 1 FHC Roadster. Is this the ultimate convertible? A metal hood that folds down into the boot? In the photo it looks like a proper FHC with a sunroof. A video of t...

Re: [edited] Spin on oil filter vs retrofitting OEM filter housing on Series 1

Ken Jenkins of the JEC has commented about poor flow through the spin on filters and his advice was not to use the standard EBC9658 (?) filter. Barratts should be able to help you, though some may say there’s nothing wrong with their standard filter  I’ve used the Fram one Andrew Bowie lists a...

Tim, for what it’s worth on my S2 OTS project there was a small piece of foam on the propshaft tunnel next to that bracket. As though to stop the handbrake cable knocking against the tunnel. Whether original or not

Re: Hi I’m new to the e type forum need help

Littlejay, that’s a good registration to have, reminiscent of a particularly famous E Type. Give Angus Moss a call (1954etype on this forum, a moderator) https://www.mossjaguar.com/index.html, a very honest fellow with vast experience. He can assess the car and either agree to sell it for you or adv...

Tom, that lever is the same as on my cars

Peter, a far nicer solution is to get a pair of MX5 seats, chat to Angus he does a good set with much better runners than the E Type ones.

Re: Coil wiring

Andrew, it was the same wiring mistake where the coil pos and neg had been the wrong way round. I put the rvc tacho pick up back on the positive side, but it should have been the negative terminal. The Spiyda website gave the correction pick up info.
