Hi,
I bought an electronic SU (like original) one from Burlen.
Price seems reasonable to me.
Also the "mechanical" one is available there.
Best regards

Re: S3 Auto: Dedicated transmission cooler
Hello Philip, it is important that the lower part of your AC condenser is not "blocked" by another cooler. If you put the transmission oil cooler in front of the lower area of your AC condenser you will reduce the cooling performance of your air condition. If the cooling air first passes the transmi...

Re: S3 Auto: Dedicated transmission cooler
Hi Philip, nice solution like it is very common in today's vehicles. From my experience you should place it higher because the subcooling area of your AC condensor is in the lower part. So if you put a transmission cooler in front of the AC condensor you might experience lower cooling performance. Y...

Hello Bill,
I want to use the manual mirror without cables.
I don‘t know if the mirror position is different for both possibilities.
Best regards

Mirror position
Dear Forum colleagues, I want to put a mirror on the door of my S3 1971. I will buy a spare part from SNG (I can't find an original one at the moment) My door has no holes in the area where it should be mounted (the pre owner has mounted a round german mirror at the front end of the door using a woo...

Re: IRS cover
Hi,
Just one more question.
Is this area completely closed in an S3 body?
I saw pictures of earlier E types which show holes in this area.
Thank´s for advice

Re: IRS cover
Hi Bill, Thankˋs for your reply, you saved my day. I thought that only my pre owner was such an idiot... Next year I will start the bodywork on my S3 and hope that it can be back on the road as soon as possible. But it is in really bad condition and I find some very interesting repairs every day. Ha...
IRS cover
Dear colleagues, I just discovered that there is no cover above the IRS in the boot floor. :seeingstars I think someone has cut out the floor to exchange brake pads. I canˋt believe that. I have just some damping material above. https://s1.postimg.org/9lmhzum58v/20171007_153918.jpg This car has to b...

Hello Marek,
Thank's for your advice.
So I will just keep the SNG parts and be happy that I got everything working again.
Best regards

Rear light lenses
Dear colleagues, I had to buy new lenses for the rear lights of my 71 S3. The spares from SNG fit well but the red coloured areas are much lighter than on the original lenses. Are there parts available which come closer to the original or might my originals (unfortunately broken) have darkened over ...

Re: Series 3 idling
Hi, my carb specialist JPA, close to Hamburg Germany, has recommended to me to use stronger springs on all 4 carbs. They fit without any change to the carbs. I have just finished the complete overhaul of all carbs but have not mounted them again so it will take some time until I can report about the...
exhaust
Dear Forum colleagues, before trying to start the engine I have to buy a new exhaust system for my 1971 S3. The pre owner has removed the mid silencers to get a better Sound (see other posts concerning sound). The rear silencer is so much corroded that it collides with the body if I tighten the moun...

Re: Fuel Pump Wiring
Hi,
do you want to know the Routing of the wires or the wiring of the pump itself?
The wiring is quite easy (I used an autosparks harness) and is quite well shown in the wiring diagram.
(41 is the pump, white + wires). There is no fuse! so I will ad a fuse by myself.

Re: Power steering problem
Hi,
don't apologize, I always take a lot of pictures and then, when it comes to assembly again, just the pic I need is not there.
Even one week after I have taken some things apart I can't exactly remember how it should be.
Don't give up

Re: Vacuum leak V12
Just one short comment.
The pipes are listed in the SNG catalogue in the section carburettor mountings (at least for my EV12)
Which material did you use?
Rubber or clear plastic hoses?

battery gauge
Dear forum members,
can a battery gauge instrument be repaired?
The pre owner of my car has already disassembled it and the internal wire around the bi metal is burned.
Are there spare parts available (or repair sets)
Best regards

Re: Stromberg carb temperature compensators
Hello Marek,
Mine were completely stuck in different opening positions.
I think they might work after cleaning and adjustment for some time, but are they really necesssary?
Perhaps someone un the forum has already tested the differences between blocked and not blocked.
Best regards
Sven
