Re: Garage Floor Tiles

Thanks everyone for your responses. I’m fortunate in having a brand new, uncluttered floor which is level. I have decided to go for these tiles:- https://i.postimg.cc/7hzM1fgh/39356-BA0-FCEA-44-ED-9-DD0-055-B1-C6-F65-B1.png They get great reviews and are very hard wearing. Geoff no need to apologis...

I used these:

No issues with normal garage activities on these, and they look great.

Re: Alternate spark plug caps

Well, after ordering 1 set from Ebay, which turned out not to be available, I have another set of NGK caps on order - I'm still waiting for these, but remain hopeful.

Re: Alternate spark plug caps

Thanks - I'll look at these. All I want to know, is alternatives that people have used, bearing in mind that NGK don't seem to be an option any longer.

Re: Alternate spark plug caps

Understood Malcolm, no problem. I'm actually looking to fit a cam cover mounted lead separator, matched with new leads and caps. I can then keep the 'original' set as a travelling spare and maybe have a little more reliability from a nice new setup. I'm just tinkering really, and I do more of that t...

Re: Alternate spark plug caps

I'm not totally disputing that, Malcolm, but I did cure a slight misfire by just pulling the caps off/on the plugs last week. Also, it's my car, and I fancy a small aesthetic ignition mod, so I'd appreciate recommendations.

Alternate spark plug caps

I am carrying out a slight upgrade/refresh of my leads and plug caps. I was planning to use NGK caps, as I have in the past, but apparently NGK have discontinued all of their 'classic' style of plug caps. Just wondering what others would recommend? I currently have Champion original style caps that ...

Re: Series 2 OTS Header Tank positioning and breather questions

Header tank on RHS, washer bottle on LHS - that's how it is on my 69 OTS original RHD. Happy to help with any detail pics if needed.

Re: Lighting switches questions

My fairly early car never had the white squares on the switches - very annoying that one replacement has it now, but they can be removed by lightly sanding and polishing. Not sure when these were changed in production, and have never seen it mentioned (prepared to be corrected...)

Re: Soft top internal fastening

Alan, thanks for that information. It's interesting because that is what I was planning to do, rather than the type with a nut. Having said that, there is a set of 'original' rear deck panels on Ebay at the moment, which show a fastener secured by a nut, so clearly there is some variation that has c...

Re: Soft top internal fastening

At Tim's request, I've attached his photos. I'll be working on this area myself shortly, and will add some of my install, once done. https://i.postimg.cc/5Ng7SQTC/IMG-2389.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/CxM23sk7/IMG-2392.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/Qx3wb3MR/IMG-2393.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/8ctRMMck/IMG-2394...

Always a pleasure, Geoff.

It's these knotty areas that don't get any attention that can be problematic

Re: Soft top internal fastening

Brilliant info and very helpful. I've just trawled through hundreds of photos from the retstoration, and as is often the case, can't find the perfect shot of this area. However, in the background I found a glimpse of the area as the car was being stripped. I think I see the wood, and have outlined i...

Re: Soft top internal fastening

Tim - many thanks, I've pm'd you my email. All I do with images is drag them into the message window, and it all just seems to work! Alternatively, there's an 'add image to post' prompt at the bottom, which also works (for me...) Adding some more forensic detail - peeling back the vinyl covering on ...

Re: Soft top internal fastening

Thanks Alan - that does help, up to a point! Of course I have no idea to tell what may have been changed in the dim past, but although my car had a 2 year rebuild completed very recently, the car has been familiar to me since 1977, and as far as I know it is pretty original in that area. However, th...

Re: S2 2+2 Washer Bottle Bracket

Not sure on the potential differences between LHD/RHD and OTS models, but my RHD OTS car has the bracket that you first used, mounted right next to the heater box on the bulkhead. This has 3 mounting screws and mounts onto 3 captive nuts in the bulkhead, with spacers. I re-furbished this, and it nee...

Soft top internal fastening

I'm just trying to finish a few loose ends, and I noticed in the car handbook the image below, regarding lowering the soft top. https://i.postimg.cc/bNtLVKVz/IMG20230327162018-edited.jpg I note that according to this image there should be a fastener (Tenax I assume), positioned on the internal hood ...

Hood finishing/side profile

Interested to know - we replaced my previous vinyl hood with a canvas/mohair (or whatever it should be called) version, during my rebuild. The fit is great, but I've been unhappy with the shaping behind the side windows. This just looks wrong and flaps around. https://i.postimg.cc/J7TxzTZS/IMG202302...
