Re: Works time estimates - indicative

Depends on your level of experience, knowledge and skill. Who knows what that is? - Only you. It is a relatively simple car mechanically, the main skill required is bodywork with restorations. If the body is good, then everything else is straight forward. Its not like their is anything complicated-l...

Re: 4.2 engine sleeving

The last time I had one re-sleeved was last month. The liners were around £20 each. It made sense because the block had been taken out too much and was over-size and I had an excellent set of standard pistons. John Everard did it. No dramas. Scotts latest video shows an interesting way of fixing the...

The Blockleys are well priced and drive very well. Even compared to XWXs.

Re: Loose, floppy brake pedal

Maybe Part labelled no 9 on the diagram is missing?

This stops the pedal rising too high.

Re: Definitive answer needed.

Leaks form the sender and fuel supply panels on the top of the tank should be obvious with the boot floor removed, especially when the tank is full. They are actually positioned slightly below the highest point of the tank if you look. If fuel is leaking anywhere from the tank, you should see drople...

Re: FHC window frame

Why dont you see if a piece of glass will slide freely up and down inside the frame?

If it does, then I would be tempted to fit the frame and glass in the door and see it it will shim up ok.

Re: Sherwood green on the E type

It is an easy color to reproduce with modern 2 pack. I will get you the code my factor used tomorrow if you want. I havent a clue if the E type Sherwood is the same as the F- Type Sherwood. I have an adventurine Porsche 992. The old 996 adventurine shade is a completely different color. https://i.po...

Re: Seen this morning near Leicester Square

Yes, Merc Parts. I have owned quite a few from the early 60's to the mid nineties. They do have a certain indestructible quality to them, got to be said, however parts prices are in the realms of the stratosphere for the good stuff. I remember waiting 2 hours at the Essen Retro classic for the selle...

Re: EZ STEERING GTJOEY ITS A NEW WORLD!

Glad to hear you are safe Angus. I had a big owch in an E type a couple of years ago involving Armco at high speed. Big claim. All I can say is that E type Jaguars are flippin' strong cars! All fixed now. The passenger compartment and bulkhead were 100% OK. All damage confined to the frames and oute...

Re: S2 Upper steering column

I have converted the LHD S2 column to RHD a few times. It is relatively easy. As mentioned, just drill the pin and reposition at 180 degrees bit like doing the LHD/RHD wiper motor conversion. An S2 column is not interchangeable with an S1 as the intermediate captive nuts in the bulkhead on the upper...

Re: New member here with project and front seat question

I didn't use any runners. I removed them. This is because the seats had to be adjusted all the way back and down to the max for me at 6ft tall, so no point. I just extended the seat base with the runners removed and drilled holes to match the spacing on the captive nuts in the floor pressing. The fo...

Re: New member here with project and front seat question

I have fitted Tombstones. They are quite tall and only just clear the headliner on a Coupe. These are MGTF seats, bolted directly though the floor on the original seat captives. The bottom cushion is removable to allow fitment. They have been positioned as far back as possible and as low as possible...

Re: center console

Yes Jerry,

Plenty of choice available for battery powered Bluetooth speakers. They are really good now.

Most have 8 hours, some over 20 hours and also sound great.

How long a journey are you planning?

You can always charge on a cigarette lighter USB if you want.

Re: center console

Just chuck something like this in the storage box behind the seats and connect via Bluetooth through your phone. No messing. Keep the old one in the console for looks. Their are much better portable Bluetooth speakers out there too. Louder. Automatically integrates your phone calls and sat nav as we...

Re: Ner her her her her....

I had a long chat with Grant Williams at the Festival of Speed this year. He is a fantastic guy and is looking after the family heritage in a very generous fashion. Rob Beere builds his engines and they make loads and loads of power. Then again each one costs 5 times as much as one of mine, however ...
