Re: Starter wiring and solenoid questions.
Thanks Tom. This is the diagram I’m using. I don’t believe my car has any seatbelt warning system. The white wire you see coming into the side of the solenoid is the white red wire you speak of. I don’t know if the smaller conmector that my yellow arrow was drawn is insulated or not. I just don’t ha...

Starter wiring and solenoid questions.
I am aware that I am taking up a little too much real estate on this board. I hope that it will slow down as I begin to work through the punch list on this restored but not driven car. Meanwhile I’m thankful for the advice and I promise to pay it forward. I have noticed that the starter motor seems ...

Re: Alloy radiator for Series 2
Yes Tom they do work well. I realized earlier today they were blowing the wrong way. Reversing the wiring fixed that. Now they blow air from the radiator toward the engine. I presume that is right. I will still be planning to recore my radiator because of 90 degree SC weather that will be here befor...

Re: Alloy radiator for Series 2
Thanks all. It seems like my options for aluminum are to take a risk on a Chinese radiator or pay about $750 bucks for something made in the US. I believe I can get my original copper recored for about $400 and I’m leaning that way right now. Just curious if anyone knows which fan this is on my car....

Re: Alloy radiator for Series 2
I’m going to be doing something about my radiator very soon. I do have a place locally that could re-core it but the money that they quoted was not that different from some of the prices that I’ve seen for new aluminum ones. The price is for all of this seem to be much higher than I would expect. I ...

Re: Arriving at destination smelling like a spark plug.
Amazing responses. Thank you all very much and yes I know I have an issue with the rear hatch because I’m getting water in the luggage area when I wash the car and also because it vibrates when I’m driving. I presume my latch is not adjusted well and it was on my short list to fix. I bet the hatch i...

Arriving at destination smelling like a spark plug.
Well, I’m happy that I’m getting to my destinations! But I usually arrive smelling like combustion. I have new headers, a new exhaust and new heater box. I’m actually still learning the air controls on the dash. I just don’t recall having a car that had this much combustion odor in the cabin. Is thi...

Re: Series 2 aesthetics
Hi Mark. I believe you are correct but I’m hoping to take the cheaper way out by modifying my existing lights. Was hoping there was a how to for inserting a clear lens.

Re: Turn Signal/Brake Light/Side Light...dumb question
Agree with much of the below but I found the receipt for the bonnet harness and it was 2 parts totaling $800! I haven’t had classic cars since the late 90s and back then it was usually frowned upon to have a modified classic. For example the Porsche 356 Outlaw cars were looked down upon. But as I am...

Re: Series 2 aesthetics
Hello all I just cleaned up the back of my S2 and I removed my reversing lights. I ran the reverse wires to the back of my taillights. I would like to modify my taillights by inserting a reversing light fixture into them and by addding a clear lens to my covers for the reverse lights. Are there any ...

Re: Turn Signal/Brake Light/Side Light...dumb question
And just went to get gas...heard muffler scrape. Found this. I know there is a safety bracket missing but a peice of metal glued to rubber is what someone thought of? Headed to a muffler shop this week anyway because the headers are too close to the steering shaft. Thanks for letting me vent. https:...

Re: Turn Signal/Brake Light/Side Light...dumb question
Thanks for everyone’s help. It seems my bonnet pin repro manufacturer has played a cruel joke on me with the numbering on the plugs. Have a look at the pics and think about what happens when you put these plugs together. https://i.postimg.cc/fL1CJSLW/114-C56-DB-9-E86-4601-B7-CC-9-DF08-DB4-A0-E6.jpg ...

John and Mark. Thanks so much. I finally finished reterminating my rear light connections. Tomorrow I will find where my turn signals are crossed.

Re: Turn Signal/Brake Light/Side Light...dumb question
Simon. Blessings to you for that information. That is very helpful. Yes it is a US spec car with all red lens. I don’t suppose this really matters because it will work either way but is the green wire coming out of my light fixture for the brake light or is that for the turn signal?

Turn Signal/Brake Light/Side Light.
Apologies to ask this but as I’m fixing the connections on my S2 LHD tail lights, there is the question of which two functions share the dual filament bulb and which function uses the single bulb? Can’t find it anywhere on the web. The wiring diagram indicates that the brake light and turn signal sh...

My E is coming along nicely. I got the carbs tuned and the timing set. Engine compression and clutch and transmission are good. I’ve been correcting sloppy wiring terminations at the extremities of the car....Mr Electrical Tape apparently wanted to burn the car down. Mr Heat Shrink is here to save t...

Re: Series II E type 4.2 Under dash harness connections
Hello. If I could please revive this thread... I’m correcting some badly made lighting connections by the previous owner. He had the front turn signal wires reversed in the bonnet. I corrected them according to the wiring diagram. The bad news now is that the fronts flash the wrong side (the right f...

Re: Turn Signal Help
Hello. I’ve had quite an adventure. One of the things I decided to do is simplify the connections by eleiminating the terminal block inside the hood. I used heat shrink connectors and heat shrink rubber tubing instead. The wiring for the signal was detached at the bonnet pin connector....both sides ...
