Re: Synchro gearbox stick question
Ok so looking more closely at the stick assembly today, its obviously a bodge to make the stick stop rotating and/or not coming out of the assembly. Can someone enlighten me please as to what would normally stop the stick being able to be pulled up and also to stop it from rotating on a synchro box?...

Synchro gearbox stick question
Just stripping my syncro gearbox stick mechanism and I see the stick is held in place by some sort of clamp each end of the metallistic bush. Previously I had an issue with sticks rotating and even coming out even with the nut in place on the bottom although the parts list doesn’t list a washer unde...

Re: New Girling springs and shockers
The "before" picture of the maroon car definitely looks too low to me . Most springs sag with age, and I think the result is that we have come to see cars with such springs as the norm, and therefore( incorrectly ) regard new springs as being wrong The springs on the maroon car were less than 18mon...

Re: New Girling springs and shockers
I fitted Girlings recently but can’t tell you how they ride as the car hasn’t moved since. I’ve got a couple of pics that might give a clue on ride height (maybe I’m the one you consider too high?). Hopefully the car will be finished in the next month and i can give them a try  https://i.pos...

New Girling springs and shockers
Hi Chaps, I was wondering whether anyone has fitted the new SNG supplied Girling shocks and springs and can tell me how they ride. As importantly to me, what is the ride height like? I saw a post after searching but the car looked to be riding too high to me, but it may have been dry and may not hav...

Re: Carburettor restorations
Yes much fun I have rebuilt lots of carburettors , however the effort in getting everything plated and polished was well worth passing the project to David as he was set up to do the work. I am unsure what the professionals use to clean the bodies , glass bead or ultra sonic agitators but they surel...

Carburettor restorations
I have always had my carburettor sets on manifold restored by David Lonsdale who has always done a fantastic job. Sadly he tells me he has retired now. Are there any recommendations our there please ?

Ok chaps. I shall take another look at it. It’s been a while since I posted it and PB have changed all their protocols of use. They probably want to charge me to make albums public now !! I will investigate

Re: 123 Dissy with Bluetooth
Back to this subject once more, can anyone help me with the best settings for the vacuum advance for a 3.8/4.2 engine. I have just checked and my MAP settings on the 123 Tune are completely incorrect, bonkers. Not sure whether I did something odd or never put them in? Any help would be great even if...

Re: SC Parts come up trumps!.......after waiting over 4 months!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I gave up about 10 years ago. Debited me for a set of wheels and spinners. They never arrived and when I checked with MWS they had not even ordered them. I cancelled the order and paid more to buy direct from MWS . I eventually got my money back but after a long wait. I dont get the business practic...

Re: In line brake pressure switch failure
The hydraulic switch is mounted in the piping on the cross member for the front brakes, if you need to bleed the system (which I don't expect) it is just the front brakes. I changed my switch without bleeding, bought at SNG Barratt in the Netherlands. Yes I know where it is. I fitted it ! The SNG s...

In line brake pressure switch failure
Having covered some 3200 miles since restoration the brake pressure switch has decided not to work. Not surprised really. Usual story of inferior quality parts no doubt. Has anyone experienced this and found a solution or are the parts better than they were when I restored my 3.8 a few years back? t...

Re: RHD S1 3.8 OTS for restoration
There are a large number of RHD cars that have come back from the dead! There was one early RHD car that was clearly detailed on XKEdata as written off by the owner, only to have those details erased, although still available on deleted data, and re appear as a car in restoration. I am sorry to say ...
