Dipstick should have an 'E' engraved on the tip. You need to make sure it is straight as they can curl.

You might want to talk to Steve Hook (MGCJAG) as he has done a modification, courtesy of Dave Kerr, to the handbrake mechanism. No idea if this will help but worth a try!

Hi Peter Shame we did not meet up. Steve Hook solved the problem by asking Nick Goldthorpe to point me out - I was the one in the somewhat unusual shirt with the toy cars all over it! http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y186/q-max/E-Type/IMG_3584.jpg I posted some pictures of the day here: http://etype...

There are three types of foam in the kit - the heavy fibrous black stuff, the thin white 'standard' foam and the two gaskets which seem to be a type of polyurethane foam. Easy to recreate as you can use the heater box and element to get the dimensions.

I bought a foam kit off eBay from an American vendor. Good quality and included the rubber gasket/seals for the motor.

I use NKG BP5EVX Iridium plugs and they work extremely well in all temperatures and environments (town, motorway, Alpine passes, high altitude). The BP7EVX is a slightly cooler version of the same plug but I have never found it necessary.

Thank you most kindly Master Po! However I can't see how you can 'science' a rocket but I reckon you can engineer one. I wonder whether William "Bill" Heynes, ably assisted by Walter "Wally" Hassan regarded themselves as designers, scientists or engineers when they 'did' the XK engine? Anyway it is ...

No it is not, it is 'rocket engineering' not the oft quoted 'science' unless of course you are in a room of said engineers and really want to annoy them, in which case fair enough.

The hardtops are very unloved in the UK (an original sold for ?160 last week) because they take up garage space when not in use, they are very heavy so difficult to install/remove and damage the paintwork when fitted. CMC charge ?2,500 and it is not even painted and many originals are missing the ch...

If the floors have gone expect there to be rust just about anywhere. You will need to strip the car down, remove all the paint and inspect thoroughly. If you can't do the job yourself contact Hutson's or CMC who offer body repair services amongst others. Depending on condition a full body job will c...

I am beginning to think you have shares in their company of something  If I was going to invest in a Company it would not be one whose batteries last 12+ years, I would put my money into one of the CMO* companies who sell the 'original specification', aka replace frequently, batteries. Chris I have the Enersys SBS40 battery (bright orange) in my car for several reasons: 1. It is about half the weight of a lead acid battery 2. It produces about 50% more power to crank the starter 3. The last one I fitted was in 1999 ........................... and it is still in the car and going s...

Jaguar specified 5 1/2" wheels on the rear only for competition work. Tyres were the same, the wider wheels made the side walls stiffer so better handling at the cost of ride comfort.
