Battery tray fixing

Am I missing something here? My battery tray has a flange with a hole in it but there's no captive nut and hole to fix it to anything? Is this correct?

Tailgate fit

Does anybody have any pictures of the gap on their FHC tailgate please? I'm fitting a tailgate to my car which actually came for a different car and it's very tight.
Thanks, Paul.

Re: RHD 1965 FHC price

I paid £18,000 for one the same 4 years ago and at the time it was more than I wanted to pay by about £4,000 because the bonnet was shot but original RHD cars are so hard to find. As Jay Leno always says "You never paid too much for the car - you just bought it too soon" hahaha

Re: Which panel?

They probably found a load in a corner of the factory and just used them up, as and when. Seems pretty typical of the time and Lotus were no different.

I'll buy a cover plate and repair what I've got with a Robey panel. I'd like it to look correct for how it left the factory.

Re: Which panel?

Thanks for the replies. I'd like to put it back to how it came out of the factory so I will go for the cutouts and may have to make a covering plate if I can't buy one. It looks as though it's just a flat panel? Although I've never seen one in the flesh (so to speak).

Which panel?

The panel above my IRS has been butchered and needs repairing. According to Martin Robey a 4.2 S1 needs MRE61 which looks like this... http://i68.tinypic.com/2el9y4k.jpg The one for the 3.8 is listed as MRE61A which looks like this... http://i64.tinypic.com/2r25apv.jpg My car is definitely a 4.2 (Ap...

Re: Anybody fitted a Hutson bonnet?

I had thought about an aluminium one... http://www.mphmotorpanels.com/e-type.htm but I wondered how it affects the handling and what a future owner may think about it (not that I plan on selling it but you never know!). I haven't been able to find a s/h one anywhere so far and I've been looking for ...

Anybody fitted a Hutson bonnet?

Has anybody bought a bonnet from Hutsons in bits and fitted it to their car? I'd like to know what I'm letting myself in for before I take the plunge. I know the back edge must be cut, the wired edges of the wings will probably need to be moved and the indicator holes have to be cut out. What I'd li...

Aerial hole

My S1 FHC has an aerial hole in the right hand side of the bulkhead. Would this have been a factory drilled hole or aftermarket? It seems to line up pretty well with the holes in the A post stiffeners so if somebody else did it they got it pretty much spot on. I'm tempted to fill it in as I think it...
