Re: Series II - Removing Wiper Motor
It's just awkward  1/4inch drive and flexible/universal joints may help but I didn't have to dismantle the motor. Your photo is of the centre bulkhead aperture. The end of the arm nearest the camera links to the motor bell crank, that's the one you need to unclip from the centre. If you then ...

Re: Vacuum source for 123Tuneplus - ported/manifold
You have a distributor with vacuum retard which was standard fit for some US cars at that time. Replacing it with a distributor with vacuum advance like the 123 is definitely the way to go. I would use the ported vacuum take off you have already fitted. You can connect straight to it now and then ex...

Re: S2 Ignition Switch Bracket
I don't believe the RHD bracket differs markedly from the LHD . In fact I think it is only the 'D' shaped hole for the ignition switch that is different - or the switch would be upside down with the wrong bracket. The upper steering column casting was turned depending on which side drive was requir...

Re: S2 Ignition Switch Bracket
I suspect there there's a few of us out there who need this bracket for the ignition switch, I certainly do so could I ask that as it passes from Barrie to Darren it goes via SNG Barrett so they have the opportunity to scan it with their laser scanner which would give them the opportunity to see abo...

Re: Speedo recalibration
The speedometer and odometer are separate. The speedo has fixed gears as such and you recalibrate the speedo by moving the pointer to the correct reading - which you've previously determined by using a GPS derived speed readout on the road. The odometer does need its gearset changing. This article i...

Re: 123 distributer wiring from the fuse
It will make no difference as to how the 123 and the ignition works if you wire the 123 red wire to the coil + terminal (white wire) or back to an appropriate fuse fed by the ignition switch. However , it will make a big difference to if your tachometer works or not. For that to have the best chance...

Re: "A" Post seal retainers
I tried to fit my door seals without the door seal retainers (because I'd forgotten they should be there after 30 years since I'd removed them) but there just wasn't enough "meat" on the door aperture to fix the seals to and then seal effectively which set me off wondering how it should be done unti...

And has the timing been set yet? If it's retarded then the engine will hotter than it should at idle.

2. No rust ANYWHERE on a 13 year old car that has sat outside its entire life. Not a trace. They don't make em like they used to. Oh no. Oh yes, Jaguar still do. A 13 year old Jaguar will reward you with lots of rust, it's depressing reading the monthly JEC magazine with folks listing one corrosion...

Re: IDLE MIXTURE ADJUSTMENT ON THE STROMBERG 175 CD-2
I would suggest you follow the procedures listed here for erratic or poor idling: https://www.dropbox.com/s/565y4hmfv1l7eys/Jaguar%20Exhaust%20Emission%20Control.pdf?dl=1 You unscrew (counter clockwise) the idle trim screw to make the mixture slightly leaner but if you've got " thick, black sooty sm...

Re: Fuel Pump/Air
If your car has had it's original SU pump replaced by a newer SU pump with electronic 'points' rather than the original mechanical points the tick, tick, tick not stopping is normal behaviour. If you still have the original style mechanical points pump then perhaps the accumulator on the pump isn't ...

Re: carb damper oil
Also , reading about US emissions regulations , it seems that the Stroms fitted in `68 were designed to produce quite a lean mixture . Would it be possible to use fine grade abrasive to thin the needles slightly to give a better A/F ratio ? :salute: :banghead: To what avail? Lean is a relative term...

Hi Nigel.....I would actually check what cam you have fitted.....the change happened in 68 and its mentioned that yours is a 69........I also wouldn't set gaps to what a previous owner said....unless he had modifications made...simple to check your cams...look here.....Steve Steve, this has come up...

Re: Adjusting Stromberg idle mixture 4.2, 2 + 2...
Bob, maybe adjustable on a UK Series 3 Stromberg but on a US Series 2 car the jet is non adjustable and you can't wind it up or down with the tool you're suggesting. Mike, the only adjustment related to idle mixture is the "idle trim screw" (which is not the one you're pointing to). If you read the ...

Re: series 2 headlight chromes
You paint the car first - and then very carefully fit the chromes on top of their rubber strip.
