Re: Correct height of block studs?

Paul, if you include you car series and type (FHC, OTS, 2+2) in your signature it will often be quicker for people to respond to your enquiries. Just helps the process. I've done a quick search and I know there will be others who will know this information but one of the things to make sure the stud...

Re: Car storage

Karl, one thing that concerns me and probably others is that you are getting your car back from restoration and the first thing you are thinking of is how to store it. Put simply: DON'T store it! Get out and drive it, lots :swerve: Post a few photos and let us know how you get on putting some miles ...

Re: Car storage

Hello 5733, do you have a name as 5733 is rather impersonal.

An up and over door will never give you good enough seal for a dehumidifier as you'll have cold damp air coming in through all the gaps. Perhaps change the door to a roller or shutter type that can seal?

Re: Robbed by a supplier ?

Rory, I'm so sorry to hear of all your problems and just hope they can be resolved to your satisfaction, or as close as it is possible to do so after all the grief you've been put to. We have to trust the people we send our cars/engines to, often based on views from others. It is such a shame to the...

Supply? The new Pilkington ones are reputed to be very good, though have they got the 2+2 ones yet? They can have heating and DAB aerial too. Heated windscreens are well worth having.

Gentlemen, is it really necessary to keep quoting? You can edit down to just one sentence if you really need to quote, otherwise you are simply taking up a lot of space.

Re: New Member

Mike, welcome to the forum, though shame on you for so few miles done. Out of interest which tyres do you have (and how old are they?). Some people have been known to fit 205/70 VR15 tyres which make for much heavier steering than the correct 185VR15s There are companies who offer electric power ste...

Tim, that's interesting as there's much talk of needing an MOT and an on the road car before it can be registered.

Re: Filling in the blanks

James, have you tried contacting Jaguar Heritage for a certificate, it will give you the date of manufacture, the original colour, plus, more importantly all the numbers; engine, gearbox, body and car (vin). Hope this helps. Also there are a few Oz restorers on here who might help with the sale. Geoff

Re: Engine breather hose.

Lee, is it really necessary to keep quoting previous posts? It takes up valuable space and if you do need to quote it can be cut down to just the relevant sentence rather than a complete, long post.

Re: series 2 1969 FHC Tyre size

To get the correct rolling diameter you need the same tyres as the Series 3: 205/70 VR15.
Though you would be advised to try out standard 185-15s even if only to have a benchmark.

Peter, welcome to the forum, you'll find lots of help here. If you look in the knowledge section you'll see the difference between the normal FHC and the 2+2. In simple terms 9 inches longer and a couple of inches higher roof. Others who have done the work will chime in, but one of the popular manua...

Darren, would these work? http://www.fossewayperformance.co.uk/e-type-door-mirror/ Yes, not round, but I'm sure I've seen these at the NEC with round mirrors. Sorry, can't remember who was selling them, not Fosseway, though maybe they'd be willing to source the round version? They might even be the ...

Re: MOT Time!!

Speaking with DVLA about my tax renewal I was told you don't declare it until you've decided not to have an MOT. So when the MOT is due later this year, if I decide not to MOT then next June when the tax is due it will automatically register that the car does not have an MOT. Sorry, not the clearest...

Christopher, can you imagine the skill of those in the RAF (and elsewhere) who were required to learn how to do as neat a job in a part of an aircraft they can't actually see when they are doing the wire locking, all done by feel.
