Re: Carmen red original colour shade
Thank you for your inputs; yes I am aware of the database, photos and paint codes. I even have past and current paint formulae (containing weight of individual colour components) as well as the paint itself. Unfortunately all the colours differ from each other more or less heavily. The already menti...

Hi all,
I am after the original shade of Carmen Red.
Has anybody got a sample or paint formula which is judged being close to the original colour shade that he/she would like to share with me?
Thank you very much

Hi Myles,
would be a good opportunity to do the "Fiero upgrade". This really helps increase airflow:

I currently have a fan and motor for sale (secondhand, surplus to requirements)
Just drop me a PM

Re: Synthetic and semi synthetic; help please?
Hi Malcolm, yes I was aware that its about the F. Basically this is my opinion: correct oil spec, frequent changes, never mind the brand. But I have to admit that I have stayed with the Jaguar recommened Castrol 5W30 on my XJ8 (but only because I hope that I can escape the Nikasil liner death).By th...

Re: Synthetic and semi synthetic; help please?
Yep, frequent oil-and filter changes is the way to go. I choose oils (only mineral) on basis of viscosity for classic cars, but I guess this is an endless debate. My E's engine runs definitely more quiet with new 20W50 even after only 3000 miles young oil.

Re: Intermittent revs drop and stall.
I had the same problem. I found that one of the throttle discs had a resistance to close completely (fractions of a mm), which was overcome when blipping. This could not be adjusted with the slow running screw, since either I got high idle without blipping all the time or stalling. Slight play in th...

Bill and Chris,
thank you.
Do you know if a machining service for existing wishbones is available as well?
Would be nice to keep my original ones.

Re: Primer... which is best for bare metal?
Professional paintshops recommend 2pack epoxy, thats what I use, dont care for the brand, but make sure that you get the recipe for the product right (eg paint/hardener: 3:1, 15% thinner). If I have to do a "dirty" repair on small areas (not all rust etc removed completely), I use an epoxy based rus...

Re: Covering material on OTS hood canopy?
Afaik this is a special fabric, no longer available according to Eric Suffolk. I received a material from Aldridge (togehter with the hood) similar to the photos in Haddocks book , but used vinyl instead - fabric gets dirty easily, esp if you do a lot of hood down driving without cover.
