Re: Radio console: side bolts, nuts ?
Rear upper: there is a nut nearby on the Chassis. I think this is were the chrome threaded bolts go in. Rear lower: no idea. Is this the olace for the knurled nuts ? If the 2+ 2 is like the FHC then you are correct. If you look on the S1 4.2 Factory Fit posts you will see a couple of photos at leas...

Re: S1 Indicators
I am just trying to improve the operation of the indicators on S1 March 1966 car. The issues are - wobbly indicator stalk in all directions and also LH turn indicator does not always engage and hold with steering wheel straight ahead. Reading this thread shows me I have the later #35531/B-131SA unit...

I saw all the posts on XKE Data about a month ago. There were dozens of them mainly from two guys, one in the USA and one in the UK, both claiming it was their car. Other people tried to intervene but it just went on and on and was quite out of hand. Obviously the site admin decided enough was enough.

My speaker recently packed up so had to find a replacement. The classic radio places always seem to be very expensive. Pioneer do a range of car speakers which fit the 4.2 radio console - 6.5 inch or 165mm diameter with depth less than 50mm. Model TS-G17xxi - they call them 17cm but this seems to be...

I have Blockleys on my car and am very happy with them. However I profess no great knowledge about tyres and certainly don't drive my car anywhere its limits. I think it very much depends on how much you drive your car and also your style of driving. In the UK the only retail outlet for Blockleys is...

Perhaps you can say whether you have both the brackets 6 and 7 because with them you can pretty much see where they fit. The bracket 6 bolts onto the bar running along the chassis. The bar has 2 threaded bolt holes in it, positioned towards the front of the car . As I said previously if the holes ar...

In the picture you posted you can just see on the right one end of the bar that sits underneath the air filter box. It bolts on between the bulkhead and the mudguard panel. As you say the the other support bracket is bolted to the air cleaner box and also has 2 bolts where it fixes to the chassis. I...

Old fuel pump as a spare
I have an old SU fuel pump (AUF 305) taken off a 1965 4.2 about 15 years ago. Apparently it was working OK at the time. I was thinking about carrying it around as a spare, however some advice would be appreciated: - how easy is it to test it off the car? - are there internal parts (e.g. rubber diaph...

Agreed values and independent valuations
I am just in the process of looking at renewal options for my car. I am currently insured with Heritage who I am generally happy with. However the premium has increased quite a bit this year and then gone up even more when I have suggested a higher Agreed Value. One very good thing about Heritage is...
Yes, I've got a set of 185 VR 15 Blockleys on standard new MWS 5" wheels. I am very pleased with them regarding driving dynamics although I am no expert in this area. I was pleasantly surprised with how good they look as well. They are designed for 5 1/2 " wheels and look really chunky on the 5" whe...

It is interesting that no-one has commented on the main point in the article which is about the large number of US imports and its affect on values. A quick look at adverts and auctions seems to show a large proportion of LH drive cars for sale, either newly restored or else fresh imports in tatty c...

Hi Steve My comments in the original thread were based on the Forum thread you referenced which showed a wiring diagram which I believe is the so called S1.5 version in the Knowledge Base. HRW wiring
I just realised by reading this thread that maybe why I think my HRW does not work is because I have not switched on the lights..! I did a bit more digging around regarding wiring diagrams. First looked at my S1 4.2 Coventry Auto Components wiring booklet - it doesn't even have the HRW in it! (I do ...

I replaced the rubber strips last year on my car. I bought a new set of the metal securing strips from a very well known supplier. They turned out to be rubbish - compared to the originals they were different widths, too thin and unpainted. Also most importantly the holes in them did not line up wit...
