As a temporary fix, you could mask off the rubber seal and spray the area where the chrome sits with a chrome paint aerosol !

The float bowl tags should be silver (They are made from aluminium) I personally have never seen these in any other colour on an E Type. As for the replace your wipers sticker maybe somebody else can answer that, I can't say that I have ever seen one myself.

This is what I use, an 8 point socket. You can also change the plugs for Allen key type which are much easer to remove and replace.

Re: Rear Diff Oil

What type of oil do I use and how do I get it in there? I have hit the books I've got and done some online research but, oddly, can find hardly anything on this. For a list of Jaguar recommended lubricants (oils and grease's), lift the bonnet and take a look at the data plate riveted to the top of ...

Yes you can use cartridges, preferable also as there is less chance of introducing contamination. For a list of Jaguar recommended lubricants (oils and grease's), lift the bonnet and take a look at the data plate riveted to the top of the right side inner sill underneath the fuel filter.

In a word no, it may be the correct wheel though with an after market leather cover. A picture of your wheel would help.

O rings are a suitable candidate for gluing and are available in a kit which includes a selection of lengths and diameters of rubber, razor blade, cutting guide and super glue. These kits have been around for years, I have one myself but they are only recommended for static seals. Is this the type o...

Preferred by whom ? preferred by anyone who has the good sense to realise that a two part lip seal glued together with super glue is never going to be as reliable and therefore preferable to a one piece seal. a two part seal is just a cheaper way of doing it. And why does the flywheel need any modi...

I went through this and took the car to CMC. They did not recommend fitting the modern lip seal because it is too much of a gamble. Basically the crank needs to be permanently machine altered, the lip seal cut in half and super-glued back together when in place. It is only with the engine back in t...

POR15 sets hard as rock and I used it a lot on suspension parts in both gloss black and in silver and it has lasted very well so far - but I found it best to treat brushes as disposable rather than try to clean, and to try to accumulate enough parts to use up a whole tin in one go, as resealing a t...

Have you checked the lower link inner bearings, if these are out of spec then the wheel would also have play from 6-12 but not so much if any from 3-9, due to the radius arm restraining it.

Incidentally all the Jaguar Service Bulletins are available here: http://www.terrysjag.com/Genuine_Jaguar_Bulletins.html I think the point Peter was making was that just because a car currently has toggle switches it does not mean it left the factory that way. And if one person thinks toggle switch...

So your saying that all the owners in the examples I gave have probably converted their cars to toggle switch's Not such a simple job either as the wiring has to be changed to suit the switch's and to support the inclusion of a clock. Also that they have all changed their radiators, radiator mountin...
