Re: Spares Day ???
Hi all I went today and having booked my ticket online paid the normal £10 not £15 which some had to as they paid on the day I would say it was reasonably well attended, certainly not packed and certain suppliers, such as Coventry Auto Components for the XK world And Automec for brake parts were not...

I just booked…let’s see what it turns out to be like..
Re: Headliner
Hi Adam
Is your headliner not the type normally glued to the steel roof..it’s only double sided contact adhesive that holds it..high temperature type I buy via eBay

Re: New JagSpares day Venue
I am in 2 minds about it….the distance isn’t an issue as it’s about the same for me in Surrey…and even the entrance fee can be maintained at £10 by booking on line…it’s more whether there will be many traders in attendance…always the 64,000 dollar question…I spoke with Stuart at Coventry Auto Spares...

Re: Slightly vague brakes
well….the short version is I think I’ve got a little bit of an improvement First thing I did was to change the pads to EBC green stuff type which were a little bit of a tight fit into the Zeus alloy callipers, but fit they did eventually I then took the car for a short test drive, and I felt that th...

Andrew
Not sure if this will work for you but when I did mine I used a pair of spare old rear discs with threaded bars running between the mounting holes..the dampers fitted between the rods neatly

Re: Slightly vague brakes
Hi Marek  …vague was the way in which the car would come to a halt…I am used to no servo at all on my ‘74 911…but at least hard pressure results in it stopping…the E was more like a gradual sense of slowing down with the pedal applied… It’s interesting to check the servo functioning so I wil...

Re: Slightly vague brakes
Evening all I’ve done some testing… With the engine running if I depress the brake pedal, there is absolutely no change in the revs whatsoever. Having run the engine for about a minute and then cracked off the vacuum hose from the top of the bellows unit there was absolutely no hiss of escaping at a...

Slightly vague brakes
Hi guys Apologies in advance as this question is a little bit vague, but I’m not quite sure how else to describe the predicament Let’s just say that yesterday when I took the car out ….after many weeks of lying idle all seem to be okay as I popped down to the petrol station to get more fuel and retu...

Re: Not enough slack on timing chains
Hi guys. It would appear that the simple answer to this question is in two words… “Head gasket…” I decided to take the engine apart and having kept the original timing chains, and indeed, the ones from my E Type rebuild from a number of years ago, I compared the new chains with my old ones… Although...

Re: Not enough slack on timing chains
Hi Andrew It’s the right way round Having talked to Twyfords this morning they are sure all their parts are the correct spec…so having thought about it all day I am going to take the sump off….timing cover off and strip all the sprockets….at least that way I can check old against new and have a bett...

Re: Not enough slack on timing chains
Hi Steve Thanks for that ..it’s so strange having this problem as when I built the E Type I had no such issues…anyway…. I will call Twyfords in the morning and see what they say..but I am warming to the idea of the old style metal gasket..with either copper coat or well seal..maybe Tywords have a pr...
