Optima red top. The die when un-loaded to deep, but when they are treated nicely, they deliver an enormous current.

I can take pics from mine, but from memory this is what I did, 2 pipes 4 clamps to fill the gap.
Originally the 2-1-2 situation is located roughly there.

Re: Camber: 1deg pos but without shims ?
Yes hight set, 185/15 original spec, new Dunlop original spec rims, and as I said I‘ll leave it for now, so it‘ll settle and I‘ll get back in a few months (hopefully).

Camber: 1deg pos but without shims ?
… I found 0.75-1 deg pos camber front left. Front right was pos 2 degs. I have the trakrite gauge and a selfmade angled bar plus tipped-edge distance bolts and I trued the gauge vs a long builders spirit level. I have now pos 75 on the right side, and something like pos 0.6 on the left, after settin...

Re: Bonnet: dished lip around front lights ?
For me, it‘s ok. I think it is a bit dark, so I often tend to not use it- but for longer seams it is certainly useful. Just when you do spots - too dark, then you weld, and then if its a spot only, it gets black, but until you have adapted to that, the spot is finished. The 2+2: just going to the pa...

Re: E type Roll Centre and Handling
… oh and I am somewhat convinced that the E- Type‘s front suspension setup is a bit a derivative from the 11CV. Both have triangle arms, and both have torsion bars. Or is there any other (british) car setup that would have been „closer“ ?

Re: E type Roll Centre and Handling
Not really E related, but Citroen did a lot in 1934 with the 11CV and even more in 1955 to get the centre of roll as much up as they could. Sadly I have no data, but their goal always was a low centre of gravity (ladder frame in DS, SM, and thin window pillars, one spoke steering wheel, thin glass, ...

Well, when you‘re 20something it is usually rather hard to be able to throw out like 100 grand for a toy… when you‘re 60 and had a life with a reasonable income, and it‘s your childhood dream, then why not, plus all your attorney and dentist friends at ghe golf club say it‘s an investment (to keep S...

How to remove a Britax sliding roof cover ?
My painter wants me to take of the vinyl sliding part. I remember the whole roof is bolted into the roof with small nuts hidden under the roof foam. Can the sliding vinyl part be take off solely, if so, how ? My car is to be sent to him after our holiday in iceland, in mid - august, when he‘s back a...

Re: When is an import not an import?
Could not someone here just buy a tatty Hillman Imp or an Allegro with a quartic wheel (buy british!), insure it and loan it to Pete ? If anything happens it was a short term loan like „I gave it to him for 2 days“ or so - in germany that would be ok.

Guy : we have this problem fairly regularly in our touring club when we have tried to lend cars to overseas members . It is very difficult indeed to insure a non-hire car for an overseas resident to drive in the UK . Don't ask me why this is, because I don't understand it ! …because you drive on th...

Yes, BJ means Baujahr which means year of built. I thought maybe the dissi drive is 1 tooth of inside the engine ? Carsten P.S - my car is also a 1966 / March S1 2+2. I am sanding the bonnet for painting this summer, and I’m still waiting for the windscreen „to be made in England“….for about 7 month...

Re: Classic British Cars BBC4
I have now seen it. And I liked it (though the term „rubbish“ used on the Imp, hm, ok, maybe). And it motivated me to go on sanding my bonnet / due to Covid the painter found some time helping me out, so I am trying to really get it done. Oh and l‘ll write another mail to Pilkington where the heck m...
