Yes, I also think that is Old English White too despite the factory papers saying it's cream

I believe OEW is whiter than cream, but I guess I will be sure later this year when the re-spray is done

Hi Ropariva, Yes that car is very close to the build date of my car which was May 1970 and is very similar, mine also has a lighter 2nd respray on the bonnet and the rest of the car is cremier & darker. As the respray on mine was really just a "blow over" without any stripping I'm sure that we will ...

Mine broke down in Cornwall last summer with a voltage regulator failure.
Winched onto a slide-out flatbed was the only real non damage solution carefully supervised by myself of course !

The avatar pic is the bad re-spray from USA which could be anything resembling :?

Yes the engine bay struts are all original paint so matching to them may be my only way to check & resolve.

Thanks Neil, Yes I had seen that and Cream is code 2680 and changed in Nov 71 to OEW code 8461 which is why I went to check with JDHT just to be sure. Now they are saying it changed earlier in 1970 - if it did - when ? Further down on the listing it says Cream was only used up to 1970 Could the reco...

1970 Original Colour - Cream or Old English White ?

I need to identify the correct build colour for my car for a total original re-spray but have run into an Jaguar identity crisis. My heritage certificate says the car is Cream, however when I checked with Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust about the certificate colour they said the following. According t...

Have you bought the car with a view to the resale value being a major factor, if you have, then the best choice is to keep it in it's original colour as this should give the best resale value. If you do change colour, then you will need to consider doing the engine bay as well as nothing looks worse...

I have experience of Beverly Hills Car Club as my own car came from them originally, their stock is variable but they do get some "gems" I do not know what your budget is Simon, but at the cheaper end they have this one for ?11k + import costs which needs the engine / gearbox checking out carefully ...

Typical, makes you wonder why they locked it Lol !
Mine had a wooden participation plague tucked down the side of the glove box from fourth annual Newport (Rhode Island) Jaguar Festival May 28th 1978 which was an interesting time line to find 8)

Thanks Angus, I suspected that was the case as I had washed & dried it ready but had done nothing else to it.
I hope that you can rivet it back on for me as I have now repaired the area underneath which was rusty.
Be in touch shortly when funds allow.

Thanks Chris, Mine is definitely saveable, however I do need to restore it. So it's a question of how to ? The original numbers are still just readable, they are etched or stamped. So I need to be able to clean it without loosing any more black paint of the jaguar details etc, remove some corrosion,...

S2 FHC VIN Plate

I have had to remove the riveted-on VIN plate on my S2 located under the fan motor due to surface rust & re-painting the panel.
Is it best to get a new VIN plate made up (if so by whom as I want it to look the same) or to do I restore the old one and put it back ?
