I've checked all the unions are tight and cleaned the brake fluid away. Looks to be leaking from the outside piston on the left calliper. (Not the brake pipe union). If I'm not mistaken it seems that piston can be removed with the calliper in situ. You get good access to the four bolts once the fron...

Tracing history on 885175

Hi chaps, I am the owner of E Type FHC 885175. Originally Bronze but now Golden Sand with Beige interior. I imported this car into Australia from Cornwall UK in 2008. (Sold on consignment by Cornwall Classic Car Hire). I have a history file (receipts, mot's etc) from the previous owner dating back t...

Thanks for the encouragement. I'll certainly be checking everything thoroughly before pulling the IRS out again.

Cheers Pete.

Rear calliper leaking?

Hi all, Well after several months of refurbishment my 61 fhc rear suspension has been reunited with the car. I removed it to have the differential rebuilt as it was noisy and had started to weep from the LH driveshaft seal. I took the opportunity to replace wheel bearings, radius arm bushes and repl...

Hi and thank you all for your responses. Apologies, the left rear wheel is slightly positive not negative as I incorrectly stated, so removal of a shim should correct this? I'm not to sure whether the left is low or the right is high, I must check my manual for the correct measurement. So many E Typ...

Hi Steve, I believe that the left rear wheel is running slightly negative camber and was told to remove 1 shim to correct it. Would negative camber in fact have the opposite effect and make that side higher? I will make this adjustment when I return from holidays. It will be interesting to see what ...

Thanks Warren,
I have looked at the V mounts and both sides look to be in good order and identical, however I will measure exactly. Interestingly from the front the car appears level and the measurements at the front both ground to wheel arch and from ground to wishbone pivot are equal.

Cheers

Hi Steve, Thanks for the response. It's obvious looking at the car from behind that it is lower on the left side. As mentioned I have swapped the shocks from side to side but no difference so that should rule out springs? The tyres are all the same size and same pressures, even with low fuel it is a...

Hi
I ended up using my clip on mirror clamped to the top edge of the door as I found it too close to see out of clamped to the window frame. If clamping to the window frame, the metal section that sits between the window channel and the frame is thin enough not to interfere.

Rear suspension lop- sided

Hello all My 61 Series 1 FHC is approx 1/2" lower on the left rear. This is when measured from the centre of the spinner to wheel arch on level ground. It is noticable looking at the car from the rear. The front suspension is set as per the factory manual and is level. I have tried swapping the rear...
