Hey Angus, whilst you're at it find me an unrestored 4.2 OTS (preferably a 65 or 66) then there's just the small problem of the finance! But if you had one taking up too much space I'd gladly relieve you of her...

Welcome Simon, another one! There's rather a few Simons on here, there has to be a direct correlation between the name and e type ownership I'm sure. Feel free to ask away, I was made very welcome here whe I joined.

I think we're seeing a repeat of the late 1980s and early '90s. At some point, there will be glut of cars on the market and we'll see a reduction in prices as the market adjusts itself. While E-Types will never become worthless, I do see them becoming more attainable in a couple of years. Have symp...

Thanks Emmanuel :P It's one of those things that bugs me, so easy to get right yet so many people don't. The devil, as they say, is in the detail.

Damn, you beat me to it! First thing I look at on a chassis plate, was one of the first things I remember Richard showing me about a year ago.

Ah but the devil is in the detail, what's the point in running an entire factory fit thread for those who do want their car to be "period correct" and ignoring what is let's face it a cheap and simple way of adding a nice touch to the car. Each to his own ;)

I love your enthusiasm, Simon, and have enjoyed vicariously sharing the journey with you this past year. My passion for the E was ignited in 1962 when I first saw one as a 14 year old. It took me 46 years before I was able to scratch that itch; I sincerely hope that it doesn't take you that long be...

Well would you look at that, only feels like yesterday since I started partially annoying you lot on here, but a year and 201 posts (this inclusive :P ) I'm still here. I didn't think I'd be as involved in the club as I am now. Club events, informal gatherings, a ride in a S1 OTS (thanks Tony), maga...

Very detailed mode indeed. I have heard of this model before, and it's one of the best. However, no matter how scaled it is they can never quite get the front of the car to look spot on (the front tends to look a little quirky or characturish for one of a better description), ie the shape of the he...

You appear to have out-detailed me on the 1:8 scale now Andrew :( I was tempted to make the bonnet under sections for the air scoops etc on my mini 8381 TF but never did in the end. I also quite fancied doing a roadster conversion on another model. Hey ho, I enjoyed it nevertheless. This does look f...

Forum Error?

Don't know if anyone else keeps getting this problem, but I have an issue with the majority of posts (old and new) that when I click on them this message comes up: http://i1268.photobucket.com/albums/jj565/SEJohnson95/forumerror_zps034b7193.png Only started happening a few days ago, I seem to be abl...

Not exactly a thing of beauty , are they ? With the airscoops etc they look like something Callum designed Oooh this can of worms again ;) I think the new lightweights looks lovely, very faithful to the originals (in fact almost identical) and I rather like the "it's good to be bad" thing as well, ...

Re: S2 with manual XJS 5 speed gearbox

I have a getrag 5 speed box from a 3.6 1985 XJS. Anyone know what else (aprt from propshaft) I may need to fit this and if any other mods are needed in order to fit? Just looking for a bit more relaxed driving whilst touring Europe next year. Incidentally my car is a US import so has quite low rati...

Assuming those 2 pics are of the same car, mine does the same thing i.e. goes lighter and sparkles in bright sunlight :) Mark Yep, same car.. She looks a bit more purple in this one but I think that's just the nature of the colour http://i1268.photobucket.com/albums/jj565/SEJohnson95/E-Type%20Pictu...

Some lights the maroon can look a little dark but when you catch it right it really suits her. A few of the best ones I've taken at various points http://i1268.photobucket.com/albums/jj565/SEJohnson95/E-Type%20Pictures/77BC7BBC-742E-4A52-8643-2D2A89C98027_zpsomps7ths.png http://i1268.photobucket.com...

Hi Mark :) I like the maroon, Richard's is maroon and it's a very classy colour, especially with a beige or tan interior. You could always try the 2.88 diff swap, we were considering it with the 3.8 as she came with a Getrag 5 speed, but the acceleration is compromised slightly with the 2.88 and ove...

It goes from the top of the master cylinder, curls over and along the diagonal round tube and curves onto the rear of the bottom of the picture frame... At that point there is a join. It continues along the picture frame and up the other diagonal round tube and curls onto the top of the servo master...

It's just one of those quirks of the early 4.2s. Thank god it alerts you to something, a loss of oil pressure is something I'd want to know about fairly quickly. A simple test should be when you fire her up within a couple of turns the warning light should be extinguished. At least that's from my ex...

I'd probably say that was a FHC, roof seems to curve down like one anyway, doesn't look like a high roof to me.
