Still urgently seeking a pair of "torpedo" armrests/door pulls............ie. with 166mm fixing bolt centres..........they appear to be like gold dust!
If anyone has a pair they want to sell, or know of a supplier who stocks them, then please let me know.

Re: Body door & window seals
Hi Bill, No, it is not the complete seal kit. It's generally everything for the doors/windows, quarterlights, sills, bumpers and bonnet seal. It excludes the windscreen, rear door and window. I suspect I WILL end up with a "door slammer" as I wasn't going to argue with the price............and, basi...

Re: Body door & window seals
Thanks Steve. Order placed today for all the seals with SC Parts, (did I hear an audible gulp from some members!?) Well, true they have had mixed reviews and have always tended to be a bit pricey but, for this month only, they are matching (or bettering in my case!) any price from their competitors,...

Re: Body door & window seals
I am in the process of compiling a list of all my damaged and missing seals but an anomaly has cropped up. The Upper 'B' post seal & quarterlight hinge seal is listed by suppliers for the FHC but generally not for the 2+2. Martin Robey originally listed this seal as R10 in their old catalogue but I ...

Body door & window seals
I am needing to replace all the perished rubber door and window seals on my 2+2 (inc. bumper seals & Furflex window seals). The quarterlight seals are missing altogether so I am at a loss as to what section rubber these are. The easiest option might well be to go for a complete kit from someone such...

Re: Long cant rail fitting problems
Back on the job again.............so thanks Steve for your advice. Decided to tackle the passenger-side cant rail instead. The quarterlight shims and packers were missing, which didn't help, so I knocked some up. There were very few holes to line up the cant rail as it was held in place by only 4 sc...

Re: Long cant rail fitting problems
Thanks Steve. Here's some photo's, as requested, to see if it might shed some light on the problem! At present the cant rail is held in place by the quarterlight catch at the rear, a loosely tightened G-cramp over the door (in the middle) and one screw at the front, about 150mm from the bottom. Plen...

Long cant rail fitting problems
Having real problems refitting the long cant rail trim over the door and quarterlight on my 2+2. I took them off ok and re-covered them (with slightly thicker vinyl!), but when I try to refit them they seem to have grown in length! Have already trimmed about 3mm off the quarterlight catch end, which...

Re: Series 2 or Series 3 door pull handles?!
Found a pic of the longer "pointy" armrest fitted to a Series 2 2+2, identical to mine. Anyone have any idea where I can get a pair? Re: Series 2 or Series 3 door pull handles?!
Thanks Steve..............not really bothered what I have as long as they fit the 166mm fixing centres and don't look totally ridiculous!

Re: Series 2 or Series 3 door pull handles?!
Thanks for the advice, Steve. My chassis number is P1R 43982 BW. I looked on "XKE data" at a few cars either side of my chassis number and, apart from a few gaps, the interior photo's I saw didn't really shed a lot of light on the armrests. They all looked fairly normal! Will carry on with my resear...

Re: Series 2 or Series 3 door pull handles?!
Thanks Bob.............pics are most useful. My S2 is April 1970, so one of the later ones and therefore could have been fitted with the "pointy" armrests.

Re: Series 2 or Series 3 door pull handles?!
Thanks for all your help folks but unfortunately I am no further forward. Aldridge Trimming have suggested that my car was probably fitted with "torpedo" armrests, but putting a post on the Forum has drawn a blank so far. I have seen a photo in a BAS International trimming brochure of a Series 3 fit...

Series 2 or Series 3 door pull handles?!
It appears that my ex.US Series 2 2+2 may have been fitted with Series 3 doors, at some time during it's life, as the fixing centres for the armrests/door pulls is 166mm, ie. considerably more than the Series 2 armrest fixings. Can anyone who owns a Series 3 please confirm that this measurement is c...

Torpedo armrests?!
In the process of restoring my 2+2 I thought it would be nice to add some armrests, as the doors already have the bolting points there; however on ordering the armrests from Aldridge Trimming I discovered that the bolt centres are 137mm compared to 166mm on the door!.........29mm adrift! Has anyone ...

Re: Furred up waterways/overheating
Hi Joe, No, still not sorted. It's definitely not the radiator as I did a temperature check at top and bottom of the radiator when it was running and there was no appreciable difference. I think probably the only way forward is more than likely a proper block jet flush through as suggested. As the o...

Re: Ugly seat mechanism
Thanks for all your replies. I painted the mechanism and recline bar grey, in the end, to match the seats...........doesn't look too bad, in my humble opinion! I found Chris Vine's Blog particularly useful. Will probably, at some stage, change the recline lever for a slightly better looking one, pos...

Ugly seat mechanism
My Series 2, 2+2 has just had the front seats recovered and unfortunately the black metal hinge reclining mechanism detracts from the overall appearance of the seats. This is not helped by the black plastic covers which on both sides of the seats are either missing or broken. Has anyone tried to imp...
