Re: Coolant Recomendations?
Glycol based coolant....bluecol here in the UK....do remember that it's extremely toxic to pets so do dispose of old coolant safely and mop up any spills when refilling!

Re: Series 1.5 carburettor setting
I would agree with Steve and Simon. I rebuilt my carbs as part of the engine rebuilt. Set them exactly as per the workshop manual. Car started instantly.. Balanced them at idle with minor tweeks.....idles smoothly at around 700 rpm (presuming the tank is reasonably accurate)...

Re: Overheating issue
If it behaves ok for 15 mins and then starts to climb suddenly it seems less likely to be ignition. Unless the carbs are hugely out of tune I doubt they are the issue...I wonder slightly about head gasket...might be worth doing a carbon monoxide test at the header tank...mate had a similar issue on ...

Don't think so....certainly 3.8 seats have the same hole spacings on each side...I presume 4.2/seats are the same..

I hope the car is found but sadly I'm not too optimistic....probably stolen to order. Time to remind everyone to think about security. Cctv. Big locks. Fit a tracker....they are not expensive....

Christopher Storey....the On line tax checker isn't necessarily accurate. Mine comes up as December 1981. Mine was initially sold to an engineering company in Derby sometime in June 1962 according to the JDHT having been made on May 8th. I suspect that when county records were all brought together i...

There is a spring clip below the hole I think that holds a peg on the fold forward boot board so it stays folded down....I think!

Re: Correct length of the battery cables?
As a matter of semantics, it is voltage drop not current drop  The current in a cable is the same at each end. The higher the current for a given cross sectional area the greater the voltage drop between the ends...cables have finite resistance. Thicker cables mean lower voltage drop and hig...

Exactly Chris. My experience of SNG and others is generally very good. On the odd occasions when things were not correct on delivery the matter was efficiently resolved. That said the quality of some of the pattern parts, particularly cosmetic trim pieces, can be dubious. I certainly would not expec...

Re: Weird electrical issue
Stock switch is On the front brake circuit. Follow the brake line from the master cylinder forward and you will find a Tee joint just below the header tank support. From there line to go each brake called and the top of the Tee has the pressure switch. Id just replace with new and see if it cures th...
