Re: Short skirts!
I agree with Geoff about CMES. Excellent place. Worth talking to Paul there even if you are doing the work yourself, or even just taking a look! Don't be put off by the shabby exterior

Re: Hi new member here
I can only say my starter has been spinning my engine over succesfully for nearly 55years. It doesn't really matter if it uses more juice - that's quickly replenished by my equally old alternator.

Re: Brake fluid
Where is your clutch fluid reservoir bottle? On my car, and I believe many others, the bottle is against the bulkhead on the drivers side. I had fluid leaking onto the mat near the brake pedal, and it was a split in the bottle. Where the clamp goes round the bottle, it can split but not be obvious. ...

Re: Gunsons Colortune
I used the colortune on my 2+2 I set it up exactly as told in the instructions, and it ran terribly. Mainly I think because the E likes to run richer than other engines so if you set it to all blue flames it's too lean. I did it again, but set it up so each cylinder was showing some (and the same am...

I'm afraid I can't help on this, but looking at your username - you don't make radiator fans do you?

Re: Hello - SW UK
a question for those that have owned both: how does the longer wheelbase affect the driving/handling? Only driven E's other than my 2+2 in a relatively genteel fashion, but this is my 2+2 at Goodwood, inside front wheel starting to go light, the car never wavered and just hung on. So I'd say you wo...

You won't get a 2+2 with 3 wipers I don't think. They have the higher windscreen so only need 2 wipers.

Pretty much what I've got, a series 2 2+2 with a webasto roof.
I chose it for the practicality, mainly the extra room.

Re: Federal spinners + adaptor + lead mallet
I have the same set up as the OP, and often find that the adaptor with 3/4 drive and breaker bar won't move the spinner. I then use the brass? adaptor and a normal lump hammer - it doesn't matter if that adaptor gets marked. Although the spinner doesn't seem to move much, a few good clouts results i...

Re: Trying to track down 1969 E type series ll 2 + 2 coupe
I'm pretty positive now it was the car I looked at. The legal issue was that the car was transferred to the owners son in law, but the auctioneers had a contract to sell it and wanted commission on the value of the car. The car sat in Alan's lock up for years. The car I remember was a '69 on a G and...

Re: Trying to track down 1969 E type series ll 2 + 2 coupe
This could well be a car I looked at back in about 2010. It was a red 2+2, reg. number was a "G" but I can't remember the rest. It was up for auction and being looked after by an engineering company "Alan Collins engineering" in Essex (Maldon) . Alan specialised in all things E Type. The car was wit...

Re: S3 2+2 Boot Board Dimensions
I'm not sure, but I think my series 2 2+2 is the same size as the FHC for the boards, there's just space in front of the boards that the seat unit sits on. I also think the S2 2+2 is the same as the S3? If all that is right, the dimensions you have for the FHC will be right for your car?> I realise ...

Re: Engine intermittantly cutting out.
I had this once on another vehicle, and it was the king lead from coil to dizzie. The wire inside had broken and made contact most of the time, but didn't if the lead moved. We traced where in the lead it was by bending the lead with engine running, then cut it and screwed a steel screw (get you hom...

Re: Help with heating ventilation controls on dashboard
4 and 5 are the confusing ones! "4" is on when pushed in, off when out. "5" is hot when in, cold when out. The other controls are different to mine so don't know.

Re: JDC JEC or E-type club
I was in the E Tyupe club, but everything became too expensive, from membership to the tours. One of the celebration Anniversary tours was so expensive n0-one booked, and the club kept lowering their price to try and attract people - not good for those who had already paid? Trouble is, it's a commer...

You are quite right, but I would expect a brand new door lock to open only with it's own key, rather than the first 2 others I tried at random!
