Re: Hood tie down straps BD20660
Thanks Richard, That's what I assumed was the case. I think the next step is to get new ends made. Unfortunately as you say, I didn't have the originals otherwise I would have done what you did and refurbished them. I don't know if there's a market for ones that are to original spec and fit but I ca...

Re: Hood tie down straps BD20660
Richard that's great thanks. Can you confirm that the end that fixes permanently to the hood and swivels, sits around the shouldered spacer washer. That is that the shouldered washer sits inside the metal part of the strap so that when the screw and washer are tightened, the strap rotates freely. I ...

Re: Hood tie down straps BD20660
As far as I know the majority of the hood straps were green from the Factory. Thanks David, I was more concerned with the ends of the straps and the shape/correct attachment. The stepped washers supplied by SNG Barratt do not fit inside the metal ends of the straps again supplied by SNG Barratt. Th...

Hood tie down straps BD20660 A Comedy of Errors!
Hi chaps, I've just received a pair of hood tie down straps from SNG Barratt, the ones that attach to the hood bow and swivel to hold the hood down in its folded position. At over £100 not cheap but their sales guy assured me they were premium quality items. A few questions to help me fit them prope...

Re: What is the estimated value of a 1967 Jaguar XJK E-Type Coupe?
........Simon is up for a bit of great marketing and self promotion  ......Steve "Self promotion"? You are mistaken Steve, I have only the whole S2 family's interests at heart. I say family because that's what I see the S2 community as, one big happy family enjoying our cars. The fact that ...

Re: What is the estimated value of a 1967 Jaguar XJK E-Type Coupe?
The ones that surprised me were Jaguar E type 4.2 S2 OTS cars. Excellent restored condition £200k to £250k Good useable condition no major faults £150k to £180k Box of bits , not necessarily all for an E type £80k to £120k It's on the I internet now so it must be true, a few more posts, social media...

Re: Door water deflectors
I think they were to try to prevent water that might collect in the bottom of the doors, getting past. It can come out onto the inner sill and also damage the door cards. Always make sure the drain channels are clear. It's easy to block these if you have waxoyled inside the doors.

Re: The Best upgrade for your E type
I can't beat Steve's 10p but for around £15, the conversion to blade fuses has been one of my more useful upgrades along with, for a similar outlay, relays for the headlights. Actually thinking about it, I can probably equal Steve's 10p.............. the bulkhead heater duct deflector made from a bi...

Re: Another Tale of Fraud
I don't know how it works in Australia Bill but here in the UK, of the 3 years and 7 months that Steve mentioned, he will automatically only serve half of that taking it down to 21 months. With other concessions he could be out on licence and a tag in as little as 18 months. The half million mention...

Good to see a scammer get his reward...... Unfortunately documents filed by the administrators as of 29.01.19 show: Private customer creditors £907,000 Trade creditors £68,000 The good news is that despite very little in the way of assets and no money in the bank, the administrators did manage to r...

Re: Advice on Lead loading
Hi Chris, the most important thing ( in my experience) is that you use 100% Argon. The wire is much softer than steel so getting the wire feed set up correctly is also important. Hopefully your MIG has a euro torch with a teflon liner and you can adjust the tension on the feed rollers. If you are us...

Re: Sweating Cohline hoses
Cheers Steve, The only reason I ask is that I've been holding back ordering some from Barratts until they were 100% sure they had fixed the problem. I cleaned my old ones up pretty well but they are still slightly yellow and over 50 years old.. I wonder whether it would be worth Julian updating the ...

Re: Sweating Cohline hoses
It was another defective new reservoir.....hopefully the usual suppliers are more than slightly aware that those sold hitherto are poorly made and unfit for any purpose let alone something as critical as a brake system. They need to be manufactured as a single seamless bottle and not as two half se...

Re: Series II -- sacrilege to use press in washer jets?
I'm with Andrew; remove the dash top to give every chance of success. Thanks Bill, Sorry, I wasn't advocating leaving the dash in place to do it properly just being unnecessarily pedantic about what was involved removing and re fitting the dash in contrast to the much more uplifting, less pessimist...

Re: Series II -- sacrilege to use press in washer jets?
That's great if you have the dash top removed Andrew 4 nuts to remove. Plus the two chrome trims at each end, disconnect the vent hoses and squeeze between the screen and the rest of the dash. Then put it all back together. Have you tried it with the screen in, it's challenging to say the lea...

Re: Series II -- sacrilege to use press in washer jets?
That's great if you have the dash top removed Andrew, but a pain if all the dash is in place. It's not impossible, I know this because I helped a forum member do it. Talking of sacrilege, what about putting grommets into the holes and then pushing an original chrome nozzle into that with the hose at...

Re: Water proofing
Have you thought about using a smoke generator and see where the smoke is escaping from? I'm also assuming you have the notches in the sill rubbers and they line up with the drain channels? Are the channels clear? My original doors also had plastic trim grommet/seals just in the bottom trim clip hol...

I think this is where Julian Barratt has been very astute opening branches in France, Germany, The Netherlands and the USA. Similarly Moss Europe purchasing XKs Unlimited in the States.

Re: HELM Jaguar E Type 300hp Restomod - Review
Ref, the throttle bodies, that's why there's no choke slider mechanism on the drivers side. Another part of the overall dash that for me doesn't work. You've lost the symmetry of the original with sliders on both sides. The choke could have been re purposed as an air con or additional heating contro...
