Hello Robert, don't have an ammeter on my car but do on my aeroplane so similar system. After start the charge is quite high to re-charge the battery, then after it has recovered the normal position is to show a slight charge. (Aero-engines tend to mainly run at high enough revs to keep the charge s...

My LEDs finally arrived and have been fitted. Both the reverse lights and rear/brake lights certainly look a lot brighter in daylight, although the reverse doesn't show the difference in the accompanying photos. Looked much better at all angles, too, not just straight from the back. http://i48.photo...

JEC XK Engine seminar
The JEC are advertising their XK engine seminar in November.
Anyone been on one before and have any comments? Would you recommend it as a useful general knowledge introduction to help look after the engine and for routine servicing?
Thanks
Geoff

Andrew, I recently fitted the Tex door mirrors to my S2 and don't know if they will be the same as you would use. One major flaw with them is the very limited range of movement of the mirror head. I solved this by, of all things, creating a cup washer from a plastic drinks bottle (the moulding eye a...

Have ordered the red brake and white festoon type reverse bulbs and will post comments when they are fitted. Autobulbs also have type 382 amber LEDs which fit S2/3 and Elan indicators, not sure whether they are suitable for the S1 rear indicators: http://www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk/382-Super-Bright-60...

And these seem like an option for the reverse lights, 42mm looks like the right size for the Elan rears. http://www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk/264-le ... white.html

David, you've done a lot of research for which we are all grateful. As red LEDs seem to be required, what about these?: http://www.amazon.co.uk/1157-1016-Tail-Stop-Light/dp/B009J7CUZ8/ref=pd_sim_auto_4?ie=UTF8&refRID=0DP8Y0JEVJWEEBMCNKJB May not be as good as those upgrades from the US but could be ...

Maybe the best/simplest option for the brake light would be a third, high level LED in the rear window, maybe ?30-40, then messing about with the rear lights themselves, but the reverse light could be a good option as the Elan ones don't seem that bright, certainly when compared with modern cars. Ho...

How many road worthy E Types?
In the month or so since we bought our car the only other ones we've seen have been at Beaulieu Autojumble or by arranging to meet other owners. Not one seen on the roads. Not that we used to see many previously. So that begs the question: how many roadworthy E Types are there in the UK? Does anyone...
