Some words of warning: My car is currently with CMC for service work and they found all four MWS 6" competition SS wheels to have loose spokes - indeed almost every outer spoke! The wheels are eight years old, have done 18,000 miles and will have to go back to MWS to have them reset. Worth checking...

Speedometer calibration update
I found the table below in the Jag-Lovers archive detailing speedometer serial number, turns per mile, axle ratio and tyres. You will see Jaguar produced a wide range of speedos for various applications. The list is missing some TPM figures so if you have one of the listed speedometers and can provi...

This is the one I used (had it to hand after installing Koolmat): http://www.woolies-trim.co.uk/pc-1332-304-adhesive.aspx A general purpose contact adhesive is all that is required. As long as it includes 'rubber' in the guidance notes it will work. You need to avoid the contact adhesive designed fo...

Not an expert on this as I have only done it once on one side of the car: 1. Remove all old adhesive with white spirit - you may need a lot of it and leave soaked rags on the glue to soften it. 2. Make sure there is no sill vinyl or padding in the seal groove channel; if so cut it away. 3. Fit seal ...

Replacing Tyres and Speedometer Recalibration
Many people consider changing the tyres on their cars to a lower profile than the standard 185's. Reasons vary from "it looks better" to "they cost less" the later being particularly true. The cost of a Michelin 185VR15 is about ?200 and Vredestein ?95, whereas a modern Pirelli P6000 205/65 VR15 is ...

I agree with Andyp, stick with 185 tyres on the 5" wires. Alternative is to go to 6" wheels with the Verdestein 185's. The wider wheel increases the stiffness of the tyre sidewalls giving better roll resistance and improving handling. If you start changing to lower profile tyres you will most certai...

Tom I had a look at the Classic Jaguar alloy flywheel and it is way too light for normal road driving. Mine is a standard Jaguar flywheel that has been lightened by removing metal which makes it far less extreme. Definitely worth speaking with a specialist company who can tailor the flywheel to what...

Tom My car has a flywheel lightened front and back, competition pressure plate, 5 speed and 2.88 diff. It remains very drivable and tractable. Lightening the flywheel will make the car more responsive to the accelerator (less mass to speed up and slow down) at the expense of smoothness. I initially ...

Although I have Zeus calipers they use the same pads as Coopercraft which are the later standard Jaguar items (2108/2120). I just installed the EBC Greenstuff pads which I have found to be excellent and more progressive than the Mintex I had in previously. EBC codes are: Front - DP2108; Rear - DP212...

I went the other way and installed a Mech-mate Motor-pit: http://www.mech-mate.com/ It is of course more hassle to install than the lift but I did not have enough headroom to do so.

Another vote for MWS wheels - an excellent product. http://www.mwsint.com/FitmentGuide/DisplayEntry.asp?CarId=FG000017&Make=JA&CarYear=1964 I run Pirelli P6000 205/65's 15" on MWS Competition 6" wires and they perform well unlike the Yokohamas I had on previously - great in the dry, lethal in the we...

Preparations for Touring
Someone suggested I create a second list of things to do and check before you leave home on a tour. This has regime stood me in good stead: 1. Spanner check - go over every nut and bolt on the car and check for tightness. This includes the wheel spokes - all 288 of them! 2. Check engine oil level. R...
