Re: battery trickle charger

Malcolm makes a great point.....batteries don't die on there own......you have to kill them !! LOL As for a battery tender, well, get a Battery Tender ! Most are cheap and reliable.

Re: Oil pressure gauge

Hi Kevin: You shouldn't have to "gather the parts" in order to switch to a mechanical oil gauge, Just contact an authorized Smiths dealer, and order the kit....you will get everything you need. Could not possibly be any simpler to install. Correct pressure readings forever !!

Re: thicker Moto-Lita steering wheel

Actually most modern high end cars have wooden wheels, but the rest of the interior has touches of wood also. Rolls, Jag, Bentley, Cadillac, etc. But the E-Type has no wood...so just wondering why someone would add a wooden steering wheel, when there is absolutely no other wood. Sort of makes the st...

Re: thicker Moto-Lita steering wheel

Thicker leather rim, but smaller, gives a great feel. Looks stock, but glad to get away from original, way to thin, original wheel. Question of an individuals taste, but perhaps some light could be shed here.......why would anyone desire a wood rim steering wheel in an E-Type that has no other wood ...

Re: Can someone explain 'FIA papers' please?

If a car, recreation or not, is raced in a FIA sanctioned event, such as a vintage event, it gets inspected by an FIA official at the track, before it can race. If it meets requirements, it gets a small book, much like a passport, which the owner must present at all future events. It adds no value t...

A little WD-40 helps get the job done. No downside.

I am curious ......Its your car, an extension of your taste, your money, your hard work....why do you care what other people think ??? How does that help ? To be truthful, do you believe another forum member, a perfect stranger to you, would actually want to spend time pondering what color you paint...

Re: Bad day for Jaguars

Best bet is to enjoy your E-Type, be it driving, restoring, or just going out to the garage to admire it for the millionth time. I never plan to sell mine, so not concerned with price. There are not many left, so no real way to judge the market. Off to buy one, or off to sell one, its always going t...

Always hard to fill in the blanks. Its your baby now, and no doubt when put your new baby back on the road, it will bring you miles of smiles. So enjoy the adventure. FYI searches, and certificates mean nothing, and are usually incomplete. I would mention to the hordes of Jag fans that will come to ...

Re: Series 1 2+2 values

At the end of the day, the price of any E-TYpe, is determined by one very important and influential individual, He is , of course, the person standing in front of you with cash in his hands that wants your car. Your degree of eagerness, or lack there of, sometimes plays a small role. Good luck !

Re: Which 185 tyre: Dunlop or Pirelli or Michelin ?

They are all suitable tires, and in the end, it comes down to availability, what can you afford, and taste. Can't really make a mistake. Always a bit of brand loyalty for sure.

Re: oil pressure woes

Hi all : Remember Peter is just a dealer, subject to the dictates of Smiths, but he is a good and decent vendor, and will do the best he can. As for the gauge, 60 or a hundred lbs indicated, take whatever is in stock, because in normal everyday use, even if you just installed the 60lbs unit, on very...

Question..... didn't Jaguar sell the car new with mirrors ? What happened to the holes ? Did I read that maybe the mirror was an option ? Perhaps, but I for one would never drive a car, any car, without mirrors mounted correctly on both sides of the car. What is the problem with a hole if its covere...

Adrian : No need to fuss, Get the correct remote control mirror originally fitted to Series 3 E-Types. Both SNG and XK's Unlimited list them.....BD-40822. Been using them on my Jag for over 45 years in NYC....haven't hit a thing !! Look great, and make all other mirrors look useless or dated. Check ...

Not fuel. Just stops, no longer a spark , all wires tight, nothing loose. Most components in the SNG system new, or relatively new. Looking for an owner with same ignition who had similar problem.

Thanks for trying to help.
