Re: Instrument Light Push-In Bulb Holders ?
If you are going to do any adjustments, try and fit sleeves to the live connectors. I had one fitting drop out of an instrument (Speedo I think), and it shorted onto the chassis or an earthed connector, removing all rear and front side lights. It only shorted after I had turned the lights on to driv...

Hmmmmm..... I recall ISO 9001 and it's many predecessors being implemented in the various organisations I've worked for. On average all these standards did was add costs to already quite well run business processes. In some businesses, the processes were already far more robust than required for the...

Another 12 months, another MOT
Pass, again. 5000 miles since the last MOT, although I haven't really been anywhere. Just going places in the E instead of going places in one of the other cars.

These are called starkock washers. Take measurements and search your favourite online selling platform. You should find thousands.

But please, please, please, for the sanity of the next owner, buy a length of red cable for the positive terminal.

Re: Indoor cover, series 1 2+2
Long term listers may recall...... I use two old candlewick bedspreads. Soft material, can be washed, easy to use and to store when not on the car. For outside when I fear it might rain I have a cheap Halfords car cover. I think their medium size one. It fits tightly enough, is fully waterproof and ...

Re: Chassis straightening
Just saying, not giving advice....
If I had a rotten 2+2 (and having no skills as a welder) I'd buy a Robey shell and build a roadster. I'd use as many parts and panels as I could, but I'd prefer a roadster. Just think, the world's only long wheelbase S2 roadster.

Re: Switch indicator panel, bit missing?
Not found on my car. And for the last 20 years and almost 80,000 miles, I haven't ever noticed it might be required. As for the claim that it stops light spilling out, wahahahaha! The instrument lights are not that bright, barely illuminating the dash panel even in pitch darkness.
Re: I'm back
I think a lot of peeps will be interested to see how a box and overdrive get squeezed into a short wheelbase car.

Re: 215 rear 185 front ?
I have another car, a Honda S2000. It has 240 real horses, but all at the top end of the rev range, and that goes to 9000rpm. And it has fat rear tyres 245, thiner front tyres 215. When the grip goes it goes suddenly. This is the reason there are so few cars left and even fewer that are unmolested C...

Re: 215 rear 185 front ?
215s in the rear wheel arches? Hmmmm. Here's what I know from when a friend turned up on a long tour with 215s on his 3.8 coupe. Problems:- 1 Bump stop. 2 wheel arch rim. 3 mounting and dismounting the wheel. 1 Remove. But remember it is there for a reason. 2 Fold flat. Perfect rust trap. 3 Requires...

Re: Esso E5 Ethanol Free to end
Full up. And then what? Wait for the fuel to deteriorate, scared to refill with what will be E5 in fact as well as name? E5 will not make any difference to my car. Not did E10, the many times I've had to fill up with it, sometimes for thousands of miles at a time. You could try one of the many new f...

Re: Tappet Lubrication from cold
The cam oil feed pipes can become blocked or restricted. I'll rephrase that. The cam oil feed pipe on my car did become blocked. It was blocked, to be more precise, the inlet feed pipe became blocked by swarf created when an undersize big end split pin rattled loose and the bits were sucked through ...

Re: Is this how headlamp adjustment and mounting is meant to work ??
Not sure if it was just my car or..... I changed my headlamps including the mounts. I found the OE mount was upside down. Result? The vertical adjuster was originally under the headlamp unit. I changed the mounts and the headlamp such that my headlamp's vertical adjuster is on top of the headlamp. I...

Re: oil pressure sender calibration widget
My car definitely does not have an oil pressure warning light or even something that functions as one. If this is as a result of a modification then I'm not aware of it. The ignition earning light only indicates whether the alternator is charging.

Marek, No oil warning light on mine. I think only on some early 3.8s and some early S3s.
