Recommendation for Mechanic near Southend-on-Sea, Essex.

Looking for a good Jaguar mechanic in the Southend-on-Sea area, that can adjust/shim tappets and properly tune a Series 3 OTS V12. Any ideas/recommendations.

Thanks

Re: More Members

I totally lost all links. The old link didn't work for me. Eventually found the new link on the E Type Club website.
Thought the forum had closed down!

Size of fuel pipe to Carbs

I am going to replace the fuel lines to the carbs with flexible braided type as one side has sprung a leak! Can anyone confirm the diameter of braided fuel pipe that I need to get.
Thanks

Hi Gary, The only other solution I could think of was adding some Redex petrol additive into your fuel tank. But I think in the end taking the carb apart and either replacing the float or the valve (or both) will be the answer. Mike

Got the same problem, so will be interested to find a solution. But I think that taking carbs apart will be the way to go unfortunately.!

Hi Christophe, I had a similar problem with my series 3. It was running too rich and the fumes were petrol vapour. However, do not discount problems with leaking exhaust gasses getting into the car. Have the exhaust and manifolds checked for leaks and check the carbs are set up/tuned correctly. I am...

Automatic Transmission Fluid Type.

Hi All,
Anyone know if you can use Dexron 11D Auto Transmission oil in a series 3 Borg Warner auto box? I thought you had to use the old ATF oil specifically recommended for the Borg Warner box.
Thanks

Problem seems to have been sorted. Alternator overhauled and re-furbished plus new rectifiers. Car now running as it should!

Not sure if we have the problem sorted. However the Alternator overhaul specialist says that the rectifier in the alternator has failed. In the opinion of the mechanic the engine was drawing on the power from the battery and as the power reduced in the battery the engine started to misfire due to lo...

Series 3 Electrical/Ignition Problem

I have a 1973 Series 3 OTS. About 4 weeks ago I took the car out for about a 20 mile run. On the way home the car started to cut out and misfire then backfire and re-start again. I managed to get it home with this intermittent problem. My local classic garage took the car away on a trailer and later...

I have an AUG 73 Build UK car and it has the completely clear lens.

Don't know if that is original as I got the car in 2010. But I had to replace the offside lens in 2011 and the replacement I was sent by SNG Barratt was a clear lens as well.

Re: Solar eclipse

Have you heard of the panic in Essex? (Or Norfolk, or as you wish!) They think the solar eclipse is a warning from the gods of the end of the world. Now they are desperately searching for a virgin to sacrifice  Now forgive me if I'm wrong (as I am a mere uneducated Essex boy) but I thought tho...

As far as I am aware the auto variant of the Radiator has a transmission oil cooler in the bottom of the rad.

I went on the Saturday. Fortunately I had a free ticket from some friends who had a stand there. However, I think if I had paid the full price I would have been a bit disappointed. It was a lot of money for the amount on show. I think Birmingham was probably three times the size and about the same c...
