Re: Galvanic coating of the Dunlop "C" cylinders
Unless you know someone in the aircraft business then cadmium plating is no longer possible (in the UK)...

Re: Brake fluid disappeared
The 3.8 Kelsey Hayes brake system cannot pull brake fluid directly into the vacuum reservoir. As Allrand says check the master cylinders for weeping. Do also check the reservoir bottles. The repro ones are extremely prone to spitting and the brake fluid seeps down and often drops onto the reservoir ...

Re: SNGB 3.8 brake reservoir
Keep a close eye on the reservoir. Hopefully SNG have improved them but I have replaced at least three repro bottles....some from SNG and some from other suppliers.....all failed in the same way...weld seam joining the two halves together failed just at the bottom where the outlet is...fluid seeps o...

Re: Tachometer reading full scale intermittently
If the car runs normally it is a fault within the tacho....it's driven by a pulse from the ign and essentially the tacho electronics converts the pulse train to a voltage that is pulse frequency dependent. The actual gauge is just a big glamorous volt meter! I'd say a service would fix....speedograp...

Re: Fuel
Unlikely to improve the burn. 2 stroke oil is intended not to burn well so it lubricates the engine...probably all you will get is blue haze. Interestingly in this week's classic car weekly there is a piece by Fuzz Townshend and he subjectively thinks his pre war Austin ran better on E10 than E5. Do...

Think they wanted £45 a ticket....probably proves that to have a car show you need cars....and On top of the ticket price you will be there all day so need food and drink, plus fuel etc....seems reasonable to offer those making your show happen some sort of discount. I was away that weekend anyway b...
Re: Fuel
Most Super is still E0 even if marked as E5...E5 means up to 5% ethanol. Only in the West country and parts of Scotland will super actually contain 5% ethanol although if in doubt check with the producer (Esso etc)....certainly in London and home counties super UL will almost certainly remain ethano...

Re: Wheel base dimensions
Just out of interest I watched a mechanic setting the caster and camber toe in On a race cooper. He set up a frame right around the car with inch square steel tubes level with the centres of the axles (car on its wheels) and spent a while setting it exactly rectangular and even spaced. He then used ...

I'd agree with the consensus....not a genuine number. I doubt you'll be much enlightened by a heritage certificate. From memory they ask for the chassis/VIN no as a minimum and your no won't exist... Best case scenario....bitsa built up years ago and a chassis plate made up in full knowledge it was ...
Re: E10 fuel
Indeed....may be an issue with the V12....less of an issue with the straight six as the carbs are on the other side of the engine from the hot exhaust. Could potentially be addressed by arranging a return from the fuel rail feeding the carbs back to the tank so fuel circulates as in an injected V12 ...
