Hi Eddie
I am following your post with great interest. I have an open headlight 67 and have been considering converting it with Chucks kit also. Great photos !
Thanks for posting

Re: Top end tapping - still
Hell Pete, You have described in your initial post the sound from my newly rebuilt head/engine. Quiet when cold, yet within a short time the tapping starts. It appears to come from the number 2or 3 intake valve area. It is audible up to around 80kmph when the wind noise drowns it out. Not always con...

Re: Brake upgrade
Oh...bye the bye, the caliper bolts were stretched and bottoming out before the caliper was tight against its bracket. ( suspected older aftermarket bolts ) This did not help matters.
Good hunting !

Re: Brake upgrade
I did eleven bleeds ( in three different ways ) chasing a soft pedal . Turned out to be faulty brand new piston seals. The last thing I would suspect. They had buckled, requiring two pumps to get pressure. Replaced the front pistons in frustration . problem instantly solved. No more double pump to g...

Damaged Captured nut cage repair
Talk about stubborn. Damaged Captured nut cage for the lower outside passenger door hinge bolt, with a half stripped( realy tight ) nut. Would not tighten or come out. Another gift of the Monkeys who previously "restored" this car….. Figured it was a bit of a safety issue. So how the hell do I fix t...

New engine mounts
After reading a post on engine mounts, I checked mine and sure enough , they were sagged enough to allow the carb linkage to hit the frame. Since it was mentioned that this could cause the throttle to stick wide open It was a safety issue so time for new ones. I chose to left the engine with a crane...

Stripped gearbox support captive nut
Ahhhh...and hits just keep on comin! As you can see from the picture ,one of the four bolts that hold the rear engine/gearbox mount has a stripped captive nut. Just noticed it loose....tightened it and it never made it to even snug before that sinking feeling of a spinning bolt ( the bolt is fine ) ...

Engine mount spacers
A question for the collective. Are engine mount spacer always required under series one front engine mounts? I am replacing my mounts and there are none there now but I see them in the parts list. The lump seems a little low right now and is hitting the adjustable reaction plate bolts. Rear mount sp...

Re: Vibration on frame
Found "THEM" Noise #1 : exhaust down pipes hitting each other , reverberating through whole exhaust system ( two header bolts are stripped allowing them to move into contact under load ) Noise # 2 : Left rear tire rubbing on bump stop under acceleration load making zzzz..zzz..zzz noise at the same t...

Inside your Brake fluid sensor
Got a new one today so I thought I would have a look inside the old one and see why it wasn't working. What appear to be rivets on top are spiral screws. They may be able to be carefully pried off, I ground them off thinking they were rivets. Once the top is off the rubber gasket and metal cap can b...

Re: Vibration on frame
So found two interesting things. A weight has fallen off the drive shaft. Found it while reaching blindly at the back of the shaft and the speedo take off has been hitting the tunnel. Tried to shift the lump 1/8" after loosening all the mounts-no dice. Was able to wedge a bit of old inner tube rubbe...

Hi Ralph ,
Do mean to say the spring rubber combo is TOO much compressed at rest ?

Re: Vibration on frame
Test drive over
better but far from gone. I will remove center console , gear box cover and test/ listen and see what Ican find.
Its the rear mount spring or spacer, the speedo take off or the drive shaft universals i would guess.
