Re: Series 2 Shocks Correct Colour Code
Rather unhelpfully, the otherwise ultra-picky JCNA judges declare the suspension and inner wheel arches a bit of a no-go area! As far as I know the shocks are semi-gloss black, but I stand to be corrected. I've got a number of in-period books but none of them give a really clear picture (although wh...

Re: Are these original?
Disappointingly it looks like they've sold all 10 £1,000 gold-plated spinners that they made. Still: plenty more where they come from.......

Re: Are these original?
Tut, tut.... Is it not the case that strictly speaking the (rare) 'Continental' spinners are essentially the regular two-eared spinners but with the ears lopped off, whereas the 'Federals' are the regular three-lobed 'earless' spinners? Whilst you're at it, you may want also to consider a set of the...

Re: Calling all Opalescent Gunmetal owners
OGG owner here  I've ridden around in mine for eight years now and I still think it looks fantastic. To be fair I think all the metallic greys suit the car well, and the subtlety of the differences betwixt them will be lost on the man in the street. The attraction of the opalescent colours is...

Duxford 1982?
Whilst clearing out some stuff at the bottom of drawers, I came across these photos which I took at an E-type gathering at Duxford in (I think) 1982 - which being the case I guess would have been a 21st birthday gathering for the type. Interesting to think that at that point the Series IIIs that wer...

Re: Wondering if an E-Type still exists - HTW 21B
I heard stories (that would horrify modern-day mums who wouldn't dare put their precious fat baby Tarquin in anything smaller than a 3-tonne SUV) such as doing 140mph with her in a carry-cot perched behind the seats. Funnily enough, that's exactly where I spent my formative years! (Your si...

Re: BBQ Paint Headers
+1 for the Calyx graphite paste. Eye-wateringly expensive by the time you've had it shipped from the States, but one tiny tub will last you a lifetime, and the finished effect is very natural and just lovely.

I once did the Snake Pass in total darkness after my lights failed on my Beta Volumex Coupe just after leaving Sheffield (it was a case of find a way of continuing, or turn round and find somewhere to stay the night in Sheffield - 'nuff said  ) I managed it by waiting in the layby, and then la...

Re: Elusive Inner door trim.
Yep, definitely Titanfast, and certainly an S2 feature. Whether it was fitted to all S2s I don't know, but mine had it originally, and it got left off during the restoration. I've got a length of it from Woolies that I keep meaning to get round to fitting some day (probably held back by the fact tha...

Re: London Concours 2021
Funnily enough, as that's Horseguards, there are signs up expressly telling you not to park there. So I pulled up behind an armed response vehicle, hopped out and tapped on the window (I realise that in a lot of countries doing that would probably be your last ever action on this planet  ), a...

You're both too kind  As a footnote, come the Friday morning, when it was time to take the car home, I of course found myself in the rather bizarre position of having to pay our beloved Mayor for the privilege of taking the car out of 'his' city :scratchheadyellow: Naturally, imbued with a se...

London Concours 2021
Been meaning to post up about this for a little while now  Back in June I was privileged to park the old girl in a line-up honouring the E-type's 60th birthday at the London Concours, held across three rare hot and sunny days at the Honourable Artillery Company in the City. The organisers want...
